I know the struggle - you can always try one of the working abroad programs for a summer too (on farms or as a maid, home assistant, etc). It wouldn't offer the same level of language commitment but you could always make the best of it. Again, I'm not familiar with that particular part of the world but I'm sure there's something out there. You might just have to take a bit of a break between grad school/post-doc or career. I'm kind of having the same problem if CLS doesn't work out so I know it's a little....stressful to try and get deadlines to align. ?
