I'd argue, though, that the EPA also does not traditionally wait 18 months to announce who got the fellowship, so it seems like an exception in this case would be more than reasonable. Getting your reviews is not the same as getting recognized in a way that can go on your CV...

Hi there! I don't want to be a downer, but if you never heard back from them at all (via emails, letters, etc)... are you sure that your application was really received successfully? I imagine that you would have been contacted in some form by now if that were true. I have had no trouble hearing back from Brandon the couple of times I have tried. Maybe try from another email address or something in case you are getting filtered out of his inbox?

Is this 'week' going to be like how we applied in September and were told we would hear about who won 'in June'... And then we heard nothing for 17 months ;-) I think the odds are good that I'll have graduated before we know anything, and I haven't yet started my third chapter. But in all seriousness, thank you to those who have been following up and keeping us posted. It's much appreciated :-)

Hi there. Based on what? Is something budget/policy-relevant happening at the end of this month? I thought that the end of September was the most likely, and thus our applications for this year are probably already moot at this point. What I would love is if they would still 'award' the people who would have gotten it, even without the money. Better to have something to put on your CV versus the whole thing being a total waste.

Thanks for the update @dubstep! The real question is... is 'no news' still 'good news' or just that they are rejecting us slowly (and painfully)?

Has *anyone* heard good news or are highly ranked people basically being put on hold given the budget? I'm sure my rejection is en route in the mail :-)
