Hi.
I would like to study history at an advanced level before becoming a teacher or, at the very least, have the opportunity to take quite a bit more history coursework before becoming a teacher. Does anyone know of any joint or dual degree programs in history and education? I have found only 2:
Master in History Education at the University of Pittsburgh http://www.history.p...y-education.php
(I've been living in Pittsburgh for 8 years, I kind of want to move on...)
Dual degree MA/MAT at Simmons http://www.simmons.e...cation/dual.php
(I grew up in Boston and love it, but I'd rather go someplace new!)
I will admit that I haven't completed the most thorough search, but I've talked to advisors at two schools. They weren't helpful.
I do not have an undergraduate degree in history, only a minor (I have a BFA in visual art from Carnegie Mellon). However, I'm not exceptionally worried about qualifications because I currently work at the University of Pittsburgh and am able to take free classes there. I will be able to increase my history credits or complete other prerequisites before attending grad school.
Thanks!
