  1. Just logged into the portal and saw that my status had changed to rejected. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!
  2. Congrats! You should wait for the official letter, but in past threads that status typically means that you've been selected!
  3. @Rahel Hunter@eth-an Out of curiosity, what are your subject groups?
  4. Ah from the US as well! Just checked my portal and it still says "application submitted." Maybe that means we'll get decisions this week!
  5. Nice! Which country are you from?
  6. Hey guys, So I found something interesting while searching on LinkedIn today. There was a post from the German Center for Research and Innovation in New York regarding their participation in the DAAD selection committee for 2023-2024. I've included a screenshot below. The exact date isn't precise but it looks like this post was made about a month ago. If the North American committee already met in February, then there's a chance that we could get our decisions sooner. I'm not holding my breath on it though haha.
  7. This waiting game is painful. 😴 Would any of you still go to Germany even if you didn't get funding?
  8. So unfortunately, I believe they changed how the funding works as of this year. Most likely due to the budget cuts. You can only apply for funding before you begin a master's program in Germany. They changed that rule mid-cycle and a lot of people who were applying in their second year became in-eligible during this cycle which was kind of scummy tbh. So yeah, as far as I know, if you don't get funding, you can either delay your program and apply next year or start anyway and become in-eligible for year 2. My program is in a low-cost of living city, and I'll have 12K saved up by the time in starts. So, I could realistically fund my 1st year and then I might do a mini job and apply for local scholarships like the Deutschlandstupendium if DAAD doesn't work out. If you're in a place like Berlin, Köln, or München though then that's a bit riskier. What's your target program/city?
  9. Yeah, that is weird. This page says that the selection date is February 2023 for the US. The USA DAAD page says that the results will be announced at the beginning of April 2023. And the confirmation receipt that I got says that the selection meeting will take place in April, and we'll find out the results 3 weeks later. I wish there was a bit of consistency here. Mid-End of April is most likely when we'll here back. That matches up with timelines from the previous years.
  10. Wow that quick? I guess they evaluate subject applications quicker than others. I imagine those of us applying for the general study scholarship are still gonna be waiting a while. In any case, good luck! Hope you end up getting it!
  11. Hey all, Someone on Reddit made this spreadsheet to keep track of acceptances and deadlines throughout this fellowship cycle. Feel free to participate if you want! DAAD Spreadsheet - Google Sheets
  12. Nice! I participated in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange last year. It's an international fellowship that gave me the chance to live study and intern in Germany. I got a chance to visit my target university and experience what higher education is like there. I also built a solid network there, so needless to say I would love to go back! I'm planning on pursuing a Masters in Human Computer Interaction.
  13. Good luck! The application for American students just closed on November 4th. Hope you're able to get everything submitted in time! If I can ask, why are you hoping to study in Germany?
  14. Hi all, Keeping in line with previous years, I wanted to create a new thread for those of us applying for DAAD scholarships in 2022-2023. I'm applying for the study scholarship for a masters program starting in 2023. Good luck to everyone applying!
  15. I interviewed in Atlanta as well! Which group were you in? Early Morning or Afternoon?
  16. Same! I interviewed at the beginning of February! I hope we hear back soon!
  17. Nice to see some other applicants! I had an alumni help me during the application process and he said that he found out January 6th, so my guess is that we’ll find out about the interview really early in January. My internship field is Student Affairs! I’m interested in pursuing a career in International Education and working at a college or university, so I that’s what I built my application around. I’ve worked in the field for 3 years while I’ve completed my undergrad degree. In terms of background, I’m a 4th year student studying Family Sciences! I’ve never been to Germany but I’ve read about the country a lot in my classes and I actually befriended a German exchange student this past semester. I did not apply for any other fellowships unfortunately. This is the first fellowship application that I have applied to so I decided to take in slow this time around. What about you?
  18. Hello everyone, I did not see a thread for this fellowship, so I decided to start a new one. If you have applied for this year, feel free to post about your excitement (or anxiety).
