I am currently taking a 3-month intensive bootcamp course in data science. I've realized my passion and talent in the field, so I am intending to pursue a Master's degree in Data Science. I am wondering if it would be appropriate to ask my bootcamp instructor to write a reference letter for me? He has worked in the field for 7 years, and has played an integral role in teaching, supervising and grading my projects over the past few months. My other intended references include an accounting professor from my undergraduate degree where I was his top student, and a manager from my accounting firm where I was a highly ranked employee. I am certain he will write a positive letter of recommendation, but my only concerns are the short perceived length of time we've known each other and how the school may perceive a "non-traditional" recommender (i.e. not quite a professor from a formal educational institution, not an employer).
