Fair point... thanks for entertaining my frantic energy anyhow
Oh I totally get it!! The frantic panic is real LOL. I am dealing with it as well right now!! Good luck with the process

I think none of us can know. You would have to contact the department and ask them.

Hi Everyone,
I have applied to DS Masters in various universities but just got an acceptance from UPenn till now. Eagerly waiting for results from CMU, UMich, Columbia and ETH. Wouls love to hear if anyone of you has got any notification from these universities. Best of luck to everyoneCongratulations on your acceptance to the UPenn program. I think most of us here have applied to PhD programs but hopefully someone will come along who's also applied to one of those Masters programs.

What are your thoughts on UIUC?
I applied to UIUC's IS program as well as University of Washington's and Cornell's. On 12/21/20, I got a rejection decision from UW. But I've recently received news of an upcoming interview with UIUC. I've noticed noone else has mentioned it in their application list, so I was wondering if there is some kind of aversion?
I am not familiar with the UIUC program but that's a good school!! Good luck with your interview!! Let us know how you go!

I applied for DS PhD at NYU, DS master at ETHZ and EPFL. So far I've only had a zoom chat with a POI at NYU SH. Pretty anxious and hope I can stop checking the results page ?
Wishing you the best. The waiting is the worst!! So you applied for both PhD and Masters. Are you completely new to the DS field? Just curious

Here for round 2 and playing the waiting game again. Thought I'd open this thread for anyone else applying to an IS, CIS, Data Science etc PhD.
Second application to the Drexel PhD in Information Science, spruced up my resume a bit more to include new stuff I've done over the past year and hoping for the best. Also applied for the part time option because the full time is very competitive apparently.
Nervous in solidarity with you all fellow 2021 applicants!!

Didn't received offer from Drexel, but I just got an email from another professor that I didn't mentioned in the personal statement asking if I am interested in working with him. I guess Drexel put me in the waitlist.
@WendyK That sounds promising!! Did you get a formal offer yet? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

Got the official word that my application was unsuccessful. Didn't get an official email yet but it was on the portal. I'm obviously disappointed but such is life! Best of luck to everyone who was accepted and hope it all goes well and smoothly for you

I was just unofficially told by my PI of interest that I will be receiving an offer letter to Drexel! Great to have some good news during this time!
@katzell That is excellent news!! Congratulations Very wonderful news to get during this isolated time. Wonderful.

Thank you @katzell and @betun. I have decided to wait for the official word before I make any other plans but for now I'm thinking I'll probably spend the rest of the year working on my own projects, try to build my portfolio and body of work in data science and see how things go. I'll also keep looking at schools and deciding what direction I want to take next admissions round . Thank you both for your support. I am wishing the very best for everyone, let's keep each other updated!

So after sending an email to the program manager to follow up I finally received a reply that I was not selected for the first set of interviews. She also said it was very competitive this year and they'll likely only be accepting a small cohort of students due to funding constraints and research matches, or something like that. She's hoping the official decisions come out soon but at least I have a sense that this one will be a no for me. It's the only program I applied to this year so looks like I'm out of luck for now. Will update when the official decisions are out. Wishing everyone the best!!

It seems that everyone here is focused on Drexel. Best of luck!
I got accepted into UIUC and Penn State's iSchools so far for the Information Science PhD programs, and I have also interviewed with Syracuse but am yet to get the result. While, there are still schools I am yet to hear from, I do know that I am going somewhere this year.
THAT'S AWESOME! Congratulations @betun, that must feel good, although no doubt now you enter the next phase of deciding which school you'll accept - good problem to have!
-
@katzell Thank you for the update! I wonder what the holdup is? When I emailed her at the end of January she said the decisions would be out mid Feb, now it's mid-March. Ah well, at least we have an update now. Since Drexel is the only school I applied to it's not like their delay is holding me back from responding to someone else but I really would just like to know either way.

I completely 100% relate!

UGH was so sure I'd hear something by yesterday 5pm. Ah well another weekend of waiting and wondering....
-
Hi katzell, Good luck to you as well and I really am hoping we hear something this week. I've been refreshing the portal all day today LOL. I did see an uptick in results from Drexel on thegradcafe page but nothing for the IS program.

Hi!
I applied to the PhD in Information Science at Drexel as well! I got interviewed a few weeks ago and still waiting for the decision...?
HI Wendy
Did you have an interview with a specific professor or the whole admissions committee? I have not heard anything or been invited for an interview so I'm feeling pretty discouraged. I did meet with one of the professors before I applied to discuss his research because I'm very interested in working with him. But I have not heard anything since I put my application in. Good luck to you and let's stay updated if we hear anything!!!
-
Good luck to both of you and hope you hear something positive soon. I am in the same position as you HD12, Drexel is the only program I applied to. But I already have my list of programs to apply to for 2021 if this falls through. Fingers crossed for us all!

New here and have really enjoyed reading through the different threads. I'm playing the waiting game and didn't see any thread about PhD applicants in IS or CIS or data science so thought i'd start my own. I apologize if there's one out there and I just missed it.
Wondering if anyone applied to the Fall 2020 Drexel PhD in Information Science and if you've heard anything? I missed the first consideration deadline of Dec 15th by 3 days because GRE scores hadn't been received but they got there on Dec 18th and I got an email from them that my app was complete and had been forwarded to the committee. Just wondering when I can expect to hear anything or if anyone here has applies to the same program?
This is my first go and I only applied to Drexel because of different constraints, so keeping my fingers crossed.
Nervous in solidarity with you all fellow 2020 applicants!!

Finally got acceptance letter from Drexel for the Information Science PhD. I was sure it was going to be a NO after all this time of waiting since I had heard nothing else. This is my second attempt getting into this program so feeling pretty happy.
Wishing everyone else the best of luck. Don't give up!
