I just received an interview invite email this morning for NYU

Thats awesome! I really appreciate the update.

I think the void is more uncomfortable than rejection haha

Anyone hear anything from NYU MFA fine art?

    Bump! Anyone?

It feels really late to me. But since I've heard no NYU interview chatter on this forum I'm still really hoping.
At the same time, my interview last year took place on March 5 (I was waitlisted).

Are there any other schools that people are still waiting for ANY indication of activity?

Does anyone get an interview from NYU? I know they extended the application deadline.

    @sofullsofull

I also applied to NYU. Haven't heard back yet.

Do you know how long the deadline was extended?

got it. I completely agree with the anti big $$$. didn't understand that from the post

Yeah maybe thats my own interpretation ?‍♀️

Going to MFA is a highly personal decision. And everyone will decide to go/not go for different reasons!
While some are here saying it was a regret, I have heard many others say its the best time of their life.

And since applying absolutely sucks...waiting until this crisis passes can be very unattractive to those who have gotten in this year.

Hoping that everyone finds what they are looking for.

dood..... the fact that people keep assuming that people going into MFA have some sort of drive to "make it" makes me really hate the idea of getting an MFA. is this what all MFAs are like?? everyone is projecting their own self absorption and ego. some people love to make and talk about work and when else can you devote time to something you love.... like some of us are going to low res or affordable programs just to escape the world and be immersed in a passion. some of us have skillsets that are practical and employable outside of art. for example many students at Hunter also work at least part time. stop universalizing an experience of art-making that is only true for some people

Agreed, but I think they are trying to say that you don't need to pay big $$$$ for that community and conversation.

Low res and low cost makes a lot of sense, it's a great opportunity to gain the things you mentioned. And I think it is clear that more time space and dedicated peers will raise the level of ones work. But also true that this doesn't = monetary or even critical "success"

If anyone is wondering about Columbia decisions if you've heard nothing at this point, I know last year they reached out with rejections really late.

I don't know if it's 100% accurate, but if you want to know if you were rejected look at your Slideroom submission and the MFA was taken off of the 2020 Painting MFA it means you were rejected. Terrible way to find out, but it helped me move on faster. This was mentioned the last few years forums as a method to know your status since their communication isn't super speedy. Must be a way for them to sort all the slideroom submissions...

Interesting and insightful. Has anyone tried this out? Do we know how accurate this is?

I applied last year and was rejected. The MFA was removed. Same thing this year (though I have not heard officially), so I have reason to believe this is correct.

Has anyone heard from Stanford yet?

The site said interviews would take place in Feb, but haven't heard a peep.

    Additionally waiting on

    - Columbia

    - Hunter

    - Bard

    - NYU

    All for painting.

If anyone has heard from these schools, or has any additional insight...I would love to know.
