Me too!

I know Western and Carleton offer quite a few placement opportunities at CAS. Also Western is entirely practical whereas Carleton offers a research stream. However, Western is extremely competitive with only 20 spots for their non-bsw program.
-
I've spoke to both Carleton and Laurier and they both said the fall semester will be a mix of in-class and online, and likely things will return to normal in the winter. HOWEVER, practicums may be distance/online

Just made one! Here is the link to the Carleton MSW 2-Year program group https://www.facebook.com/groups/227228378527060/

If you have a bachelor's already, try a postgrad somewhere such as the SSW program or I believe someone mentioned a mental health and addictions program at Humber
-
I just received my offer of admission to Laurier's 2year non-bsw program. Does anyone know if they provide any funding (such as scholarships/bursaries/TAships)?
-
I've taken an postgrad ssw program and it did nothing for my CV aside from more practical experience. However, I would say regardless, it was useful in the sense of an intro to social work
-
I don't think so! I was considering making one but go for it if you want to ?

Carleton is very social justice and structural social work based. If you are interested in public policy, structural change versus front line work, Carleton is the place to be.

Similar to what people have been writing about between UofT and UBCO, western has a very similar vibe to UofT where they focus more on their name and pumping out 'top students', rather than supporting their students and providing a community feel. Laurier I've heard is the latter. Moreover, Laurier is more critical with a social justice focus, compared to western which is more clinical and counselling focused.
-
I just got an email this afternoon I've been waitlisted. I'm going to ask to be taken off it though because I was accepted elsewhere
-
Rejections by Laurier will be made by mail??? yikes

I applied to other programs at the same time as my MSW after the SSW program. I ended up doing a Master of Arts in women and gender studies, focusing on social justice and advocacy at Carleton. I graduate from that program in June, and I applied to my MSW for a 3rd time for this fall ?

I did the fast track SSW program at Fanshawe after my undergrad because I also didn't get in the first time. The program is insanely hard and they don't allow you to have a job during it and they like to fail a lot of people out of the progrM. I would say only half of the people who started ended up graduating. I also applied to kings MSW again after the SSW program and still didn't get in. They said it basically didn't count because it's a college program so it doesn't boost your grades, it only gets you more time in the field (practicum).
-
Does it also show on the Western Student Centre?
-
Was this the advanced standing or 2 year
-
This was my 3rd time applying! The programs are really competitive, I went back to two other programs (postgrad diploma and a different masters both with practicums that turned into summer jobs) before getting accepted for the first time this year
-
Are you in the advance standing or 2year at carleton?
-
Also impatiently waiting on western. their website says early march ?
-
Wow that's so long from now! Especially when I have 21 days to give a response to Carleton :/
-
For the two year program at Carleton. I was sent an email and the status changed on Carleton central to "Decision made by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs: Application Approved"
-
I definitely never received this email, do I email admissions about this??
-
I just got my acceptance letter today?

How do you log into ACORN? Where would you find login info?
