  1. Anyone who was recently taken off the waitlist an international applicant? Congratulations to all of you who just got in
  2. Nope, not on facebook. Just one more week now before we definitely find out.
  3. I wish I could answer your question, tennnnnn. Maybe call/email them and ask them what their refund policy is? Has anyone heard anything yet?
  4. I want to convince myself I'm not getting in and that I should focus solely on 2021 now, but how have they not taken ANYONE off yet? Sure, they might have and the people who are in now just don't want to say they are, but that doesn't seem plausible. There's this forum and apparently a facebook group too. No one's said anything so maybe they're still processing applications and all. But holding onto a hope like that feels like being at sea and holding onto a whale carcass to stop from drowning ?
  5. I don't think they found my application lacking because they waitlisted me and my understanding is that you get waitlisted only if you meet their standards but they just don't have a spot for you. I applied late and I guess most spots had filled up by then. Are you saying people are being taken off the waitlist and it's the stronger applicants who are coming off first? My one consolation so far has been that no one's heard back perhaps because of the pandemic. If people have been hearing back and I haven't, then I guess that pretty much confirms I'm not getting in this year.
  6. Nope. Heck, I started working on my 2021 applications in earnest a few weeks ago.
  7. That's very helpful info, Oisehopeful. Good luck with your EdD application! And I think you're right, Toastedcookies. Thanks for pointing that out.
  8. Thanks for sharing that info, Oisehopeful I hope you hear back about your EdD application soon.
  9. Nevermind. Just saw that someone received a decision on the 13th of August. There's really no way of figuring out if/when we'll hear back.
  10. They'll start accepting semester fee payments on the 28th and I think they sent out all or most of their pending decisions in the first week of August. Assuming the last applicant to get a decision from them heard back on the 7th of August and that they're still giving everyone 3 weeks to decide whether or not to attend OISE then what they told you about taking people off the waitlist in late August makes sense. Could anyone who received an acceptance letter from OISE give us some info that might prove useful?
  11. Hi Oisehopeful2020, I applied to the I/S stream and I got waitlisted in April. What about you? Did they specifically mention that they'd be taking people off the waitlist in August?
  12. Hi Oisehopeful2020, Did they write to you to tell you that? This might be good news. It might mean not having heard back so far isn't bad news.
  13. Does anyone remember when they closed all three MT streams? I know some programs were still accepting applications until recently (the 28th of July, I think), but all three MT streams became closed to new applicants some time before. Assuming some people applied on the last date, which was some time in late June or early July, that OISE took 3-6 weeks to make their decisions regarding those last few applications, and that they give people three weeks to accept offers of admission (it's what OISE says on their admissions page), I guess we can expect spots to open up between now and the first week of September. That's a dreadful scenario, but given how slowly things have been developing, that might actually be the optimistic or at best realistic scenario.
  14. Thanks milkyb00 and OISEHOPEFUL2020 for your very encouraging words. I really hope you're right and we get in this year.
  15. I have a question for all of you who are waitlisted like me - does it make any sense to hope we'll be taken off at this point? The waitlist letter does say that not being admitted by mid-August means it's unlikely you will. Do you think that still holds given that the folks at OISE have been slowed down a lot because of the pandemic or do you think we're definitely not getting in now?
  16. Congratulations, Oisehopeful I'm on the MT waitlist.
  17. Congratulations, MelvinaNew! ☺️ Oisehopeful, I plan on emailing them if I don't hear anything by Friday. I have days in which I feel very hopeful and days in which I'm totally devoid of hope. Today's one of those bad days.
  18. Congratulation sk8erlim What about your MT application? Have they given you a decision?
  19. Damn, I'm sorry about that. I think I've braced myself for the possibility I won't get in this year, but I know it'll still suck a lot if I don't. I don't think you can brace yourself for something like that and it just sucks, period.
  20. Oh I wouldn't worry about your paper transcript because I think I read on the COVID-19 updates page that paper transcripts aren't too necessary. I think you're fine so long as they have your e-transcripts.
  21. It's from the results page and all grad applicants, even those who eventually get rejected, are given early access to Acorn. I think you're supposed to get it, but I don't think getting Acorn access says anything about your chances of getting in. Did you submit your application with a document still pending? If I remember correctly, you can't submit your application if some of your stuff is still missing. I'd double check to confirm if your application's been submitted. It could very well be that your application has indeed been submitted and that the system is just a bit buggy. From what I've read on older threads, the portal doesn't always update in time; people get emails and notifications from Acorn long before the portal shows any change in their status.
  22. It appears somebody just got in for the MEd program. Do you guys have access to Acorn? I have Acorn access and I was recently prompted to give an emergency contact's details. I've learned not to read too much into these changes though since they don't seem to mean anything.
  23. I think OISE's being quite ridiculous now. They're still accepting applications and still looking at old ones. Given how long the waitlist already is and how it keeps growing, I don't think the likelihood of anyone getting off it is high. I think I'm going to start looking at programs for 2021. I think 2020 is going to be a wasted year for most people.
  24. Hi Kukuudas, I wish I could answer that. I don't know much about Canadian schools (I'm not Canadian) or how much the deposit is, but I guess if your heart's very set on OISE then maybe you can forego the deposit and join OISE? The deposit is a one-time expense, but if you think OISE's better than the alternative and that a degree from OISE is going to pay for itself over time way more than the other school will, then losing the deposit doesn't seem like a big deal. I don't mean to trivialize the waste of money, but if in the long run OISE makes way more sense, then a deposit doesn't matter.
