Hi, I also just saw on ACORN that I've been invited to the 2-Year MSW at UofT!! :) This was my first time applying and also the only social work program I applied to!
Education: I graduated from UofT last year, 4.0 GPA in my last year and a final cGPA of 3.95. I was in the Psychology Research Specialist program and did a ton of research (paid and unpaid) in social psychology, including a thesis project last year. I also was in Equity Studies and most of my 3rd and 4th year courses were within the realm of equity studies/critical social justice :)
I also have several years of experience volunteering with misc. equity-focused student groups and local orgs and grassroots community projects. e.g., volunteering with Planned Parenthood Toronto, as well as a nonprofit volunteer peer support line for 2SLGBTQ youth, and a food serve group started up by a bunch of my friends and local organizers... etc. etc.! I currently have no paid/formal work experience in the social service sector, but lots of paid exp. in research project/lab management in psychology.
Had to do stats and several research methods courses because of the Research Specialist program so I think that definitely helped!!
