Similarly, I have heard it described as NSF awards your "potential" while NDSEG awards "accomplishments"

Seems like a couple of people have added to the spreadsheet

You can tell that he has also given up hope on the process. Honestly though, what kind of technical issues could actually be holding the process up? I mean at this rate they could just fax the applications back and forth and it would be faster...

My faith in Sysplus is at an all time low

Only the best of quality from the lowest bidder

As much as it sucks, these things are probably a very easy way to cull the group down almost immediately
-
I know one person who did, a member of ~December Gang~ (not on the spreadsheet I think)
-
And I imagine that will be worse this year because the DoD has pushed back so far (anyone know the deadline for accepting NSF?)
-
All of the ones I know of have some sort of mechanism like this (mostly because people who are competitve for one fellowship are also competitive for others)

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people with April updates ended up getting offers/alternates considering that 61/131 of the entries on the sheet have already won some sort of external fellowship/HM.
-
I imagine what is happening now is a bunch of P.O.s are getting emails that they haven't submitted their selections on time and now we will see the rush
-
I am of the theory that all of the April updates are different DoD people "weighing in" to the application (maybe it goes to the different P.O.s then to higher ups?). In this thinking, any April update is a good thing as it means your application is at least getting passed around at DoD.

I imagine when you are getting the same email multiple times a day you start to just copy and paste (at least that's what I would do)

There is someone at my school doing it, but I don't know of anyone nationally

I appreciate you using the alternate link so that people don't see it coming

I think you are underestimating how bored/anxious people are

Someone should do some growth analysis

A ton of social science research relies on survey data, I assume there are methods out there for reducing these types of biases?
-
I really hope someone puts together a poster or something from all of this data that we collected, could be an interesting postmortem considering that it is likely the largest external dataset about NDSEG applicants and that the DOD doesn't release any details other than the number of awardees
