Does anyone know the statistics for acceptance for the 2 year MSW program at U of T this year? I was accepted but am curious to know how many are in the program.

Also, if you heard Trudeau's announcement today he said that everyone who is volunteering to help people with this pandemic in any way will be receiving funds for doing so. It will be up to 1000 - 5000 a month.
Wow! That is fantastic! Thanks for letting me know. By the way, the person I spoke with said the new training is posted around 1 o'clock next Monday, so I'd check back around then. This week I received the email at 1:30, tried to register at about 2:30 and everything was already full!! It is so competitive and massively frustrating. Glad I am not the only one frustrated by this.

Hey! Exciting! Congrats on getting accepted. I was too late signing up for the training that was posted earlier this week so have not signed up yet, but I was told there will be another cohort posted next Monday. It is so competitive to try to get into training. Hopefully we can both get into one next week. Fingers crossed!

Once my references were in, I heard I was accepted within 2 days, but then when I tried to register everything was full. I emailed a couple of times and it was about 10 days before I received a response. Quite frustrating! I think they must be holding off on acceptances as there are currently no training spots open, but there will be some available for May soon I've been told.

Thanks so much for your response! I am glad it is not just me. They finally got back to me today and let me know that all training cohorts for April are full. They will open new training in the coming weeks for May. It sounds like they are incredibly busy and there are a ton of applicants, so it may be a pretty slow process. Hopefully we both hear something again soon

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these crazy times. I am hoping to get some insight from anyone who has done volunteering with Kids Help Phone or a similar organization before. I have applied and been accepted to be part of the text volunteer program with Kids Help Phone. I heard that I was accepted last Monday letting me know to register for training. When I looked, all the training opportunities are full. I emailed last Monday, then followed up again last Friday and have yet to hear back, and the training cohorts are still showing up as full. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and if so what do you recommend? I am increasingly frustrated as I have heard from multiple sources they are in need of volunteers and I've really been looking forward to doing something meaningful with my spare time. Alternatively, does anyone have any recommendations for similar organizations that offer online volunteer opportunities?

Coursera has some great options. I've been taking a course called Mind Control: Managing Your Mental Health Through COVID-19, taught by a U of T Psychology professor and it is great. Here's the link: https://www.coursera.org/learn/manage-health-covid-19 There are a ton of great options and all free!
