Ups... I just post the complete information

Ah!  Yeah you 1000% need to know the full details before saying yes.  It's odd that they haven't been provided.  Congrats on the acceptances in any case!

  2. Congrats!  You planning on going there or depends on others?

I’m still waiting on 6 decisions so uh, any day now...  Of course some of them seem to have a habit of waiting until the end of March to send the rejections.

NYU update: applied to the Ethnomusicology PhD and heard nothing but radio silence after POI told me results would go out in mid-Feb...followed up via email today and got a response saying that NYU drastically cut the funding/numbers for music grad programs, leaving them with "almost no spots" and that they likely wouldn't be able to take anyone at all for ethno this year. Super bummed but glad to have an answer

Brutal. They didn’t even have a cycle last year.  Thanks for the update though.

Thank you, I hope you are right and I'm still in the running (someone posted he got accepted to computer music at UCSD on Feb' 10th...)...so far I applied to 10 schools and received 6 rejections already...frustrating, I still hope to receive good news from the schools I still haven't heard from...Good luck to you as well!!!

Someone early posted that UCSD is 'rolling' admissions - so it might mean that they simply haven't arrived at your file yet.  Or you're on some sort of waitlist.  Who knows!  Hope it works out.

    Anybody apply to Michigan?

Hey, is it an NYU Waitlist for Composition (PhD)? Where can I see it? Could you send a link please? thanks...I applied and didn't hear from them yet

There’s one for both composition and musicology actually it seems.  Search “music” or “musicology” on the results page (not NYU)

Anyone heard back from composition (PhD) at UCSD, UC Irvine, Eastman, and CalArts? I had interviews with Eastman and UC Irvine at the begining of Feb', haven't heard back yet...

Results page from previous years suggests Eastman results around beginning of March.

There are some UCSD rejections already on the results page so who knows.

Yeesh so much red on the results page! I hope everyone is doing okay. ❤️

Someone randomly spamming the page with "postal service" rejections though.

Anyway I just need NYU to notify and then my calculus will be clear.  Unfortunately it looks like they don't send rejections until at least a month from now normally?  What's up with that...

Just got the rejection letter now.

so bad that they charged us the fee for nothing..

    Well, lets wait more decisions

    Good luck u all!

Well I certainly don’t know if anyone was accepted or not. Sorry it didn’t work out for you. I hope they took someone.

I can't speak for musicology but I was contacted on 2.5 about composition by faculty and official waitlist notifications went out 2.10.

Saw your "no composers were outright admitted this cycle" results post.

Really not a fan of this.  I know some places don't know ahead of time if they will have any spots at all for composers, but of course that doesn't stop them from taking people's application fees (and then probably never informing them whether or not there was ever a spot).

If you can't guarantee that you will be able to take people - either make it known in the application or suspend the cycle.  Not that I'm personally affected by this school (but who can say about any others?) but still...

It's strange that I have heard nothing from Stanford yet. How am I the only person with updated news on this platform. I hope someone who also had an interview with Stanford finds us.

I feel you, with basically all my remaining programs.  Probably the people getting in are too well adjusted to be posting on here, ha

Do you think they handle everyone in the music dept the same way and at the same time?

I think it depends on the school.  Like Eastman is sending out musicology acceptances already but haven't even finished interviewing composers.  Some others seem too coordinate though, you're right.

I don't know if this will help. So far I was admitting into Duke(no interview) and waiting to hear back form Stanford after my interview. They had more applicants so they said it is much slower. We should know within the next couple weeks.

For composition?  Likelihood of declining for a poor waitlisted fellow such as myself? :D

Edit: For Ethnomusicology I see from previous post.  So it probably won't help, cause the other person is a composer too.

Thank you, good luck with UNC and Northwestern! I haven't heard anything else from Northwestern since the first interview so I think I was probably rejected

I know, at least for composition, that Northwestern can have a silent waitlist - radio silence after interview and then acceptance randomly much later.  No guarantee that's what's happening to you of course, but it happened to someone I know.

Meanwhile I'll just be over here wishing more of these places with great funding had compositional aesthetics amendable to my own.
