[Tips On Analogies]

So I haven'tt aken the test but have been prepping for almost two months. I've been studying for the verbal section with the Kaplan GRE Vocab in a Box. It's notecards that you can take with you wherever you go. I've found it extremely helpful and have learned over 300 words so far. My score improved on the verbal portion by 140 points so far on my practice tests. If you can't afford the notecards, you could always make your own. This way is just easier!

Yeah, I've studied the Barron's 800 essential words for the GRE and gotten them down, along with the 300 word roots. Maybe it's just the practice tests I've been taking, but I feel like on the tougher analogies, the word(s) are from various fields not in the plain vocabulary books.

[Tips On Analogies]

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know any good resources or tips for analogies? This is by far my weakest area on the test. It seems like the tougher words come from various fields whose vocabulary I'm not too familiar with. Would it make sense to study the terminology of those fields? Or are there better ways to go about it?

[Number of Places To Apply]

I'm wondering how many places you all think is best to apply to. I realize this may vary, but generally, what are your views? Personally, I haven't decided yet. There are many schools I am currently considering but I don't want to ask too much of my letter writers or pay too many fees.
