Looks like his predictions of the end of the world may be right. The good friar has gone and gotten himself a facebook!

Well, going on a slight tangent, I saw Criminal Lovers, a masterful film made by French director Fran

Wow. You seem to have the maturity level of a 14 year old. Most of us are grown up, and stopped comparing genitalia in the school yard, you however, seem to be an exception to this maturity. I'd recommend growing up, going through puberty, and then returning to the grad cafe once you are capable of having inteligent discourse with other people.

Au contraire, I'm afraid. According to a document on nsfgrfp.org: "You can defer the award for up to two years and take other funding if this is something that appeals to you. You might also defer the first year, take two years of funding, then defer another year, for example." http://www.nsfgrfp.org/assets/File/NSFG ... 08%20NEW(1).ppt So, for example, you can accept NDSEG, use that for 2 years, and then use the GRFP funding.

Do you really think that this will get us anywhere? And if you think it's such a good idea, then you ought to do it yourself.

Ah, the Hiroshima. First, take one shot of everclear. Put into it one red maraschino cherry, which symbolizes the "red button". Light the shot on fire, and drop it into a pint glass of Kirin (a Japanese beer). Drink it down as fast as you can. It is truly a drink of last resort.
-
1100, or I drink 2 Hiroshimas.
-
If the awards aren't announced today, I'll go and drink a Hiroshima, the drink of last resort. You all should too.

a1000, your wording was, from the perspective of any civilized person, quite rude. It is written in an arrogant, self-centered fashion, and regardless of the tone of voice that you used, saying such things as "I see. So no one at this line has any actual knowledge of when the awards will be announced or the actual reason for a delay." is not considered acceptable. I may just be old fashioned, but that strikes me as being rude.

I called back around the transcript deadline, and one of the people whom I talked to said something about handling my transcript himself, so I think that they also do that. I got the impression from something else I heard/saw (can't remember which, it was a while ago) that they do everything for the application process, aside from making the final decisions on the awards. Who knows? If you really want to know, you could call them and ask  , although hopefully in a more polite fashion that that a1000 person. Regardless, we'll all know in a short while...

Hekog is right. When I've called, I've always been polite, and they have always been helpful. If they aren't able to give any concrete answers, maybe it's because there, well, are none. And if there are, maybe they don't know them. Either way, I highly doubt that being rude will get them to tell you information that they won't tell anyone else, even in the highly unlikely event that they are holding it in, and keeping it from us (which does not benefit anyone).

No, you can only defer the GRFP if you are in school and receiving funding from another source, such as, say NDSEG.
-
Just a prediction, but I think that the first sign of a notification will probably be in your inbox, not on Fastlane. Just my 2 cents.
-
NO, it won't. There is only one way to get the hot babes:
-
Wow, this place has gone absolutely berserk. Pirates, nutty monks, and wingnut politicos... Anyhow, I called, and the lady said that there may be some notification towards the middle of this week. So "yay!" ?
-
You could just wait for the email...
-
Or it could just be a glitch. I don't think that these people are outta get us. I mean, they're giving like 900 of us ~$120,000...
-
I bet that the NSF hasn't made up their minds yet and told them. Yay for government!
-
Ugh. I called (again) and talked to a woman who said that everybody would be "notified at some point in early April", but that they "don't know exactly when yet". She did say that it would probably be before April 15. I really want to know...
-
Yeah, the man on the phone at their offices said that the ineligible people had already been notified, and that everyone else, regardless of whether they won or not, would be notified by email at the same time and date. On the downside, though, he also said that it would be early April this year, and almost certainly not in March.
-
I never saw that anywhere, but the guy on their hotline told me that we'd all find out on the same day, unless we were ineligible, in which case we'd have already found out last month.
-
I called them, and they said that everyone would be notified by email on the same day in early April, and that results would be available online afterwards. As far as why it's taking so long, this is the government we're talking about, they're never efficient. Just my 2 cents.

All of the rules seem to be written here: http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2008/nsf08593/nsf08593.htm And they have a phone line with real people on it at 1-866-673-4737.
