This is great news! Congratulations. Proof that simply "being a GEM candidate" is not always enough. GEM connects us to a vast network, but if one is willing to go the extra mile, favorable results will come.

Kevin Henry reached out to me telling me that he was excited to see that I had applied to USC Viterbi as a GEM candidate. He mentioned that my application was very competitive (Back in January). Although, this past weekend I received a notice from USC admissions stating that I am missing a document. This is why my decision has been delayed. I am working on sending them the document asap.

Yes, I meant USC admissions decision notification. I am getting pretty nervous about the fact that they seem to be waiting to the very last day to inform me. I got my USC GEM notice back in January. I was told that my application to USC was quite competitive and that I would hear back by early March. This is why I am uneasy.

Has anyone heard back from USC??? I was told that as a GEM scholar I would be hearing back by the end of February. I reached out to the GEM point of contact and he mentioned that admissions was behind schedule (in March). What gives?

I am not sure about what is the latest, but I am set to start interning full time next month. Have you reached out to any corporate point of contacts or GEM?

I submitted mine 2 weeks ago and they also say "not received". However, I think they said not to worry about this and they'll reach out if there are any issues.

Something that I am still not clear about is: let's say we get an internship offer and our graduate school admission, how is it determined whether or not we get the full benefits of being a GEM Fellow? Is it determined by the school? Or does GEM still need to review our application after we have received these two things?

Okay, thanks. I went ahead and submitted an email delivery request. However, my instructions PDF does not include that last line that says that we can email them. Then again, I think the email that I was sent has not been updated since 2018. Thanks.

Do ya'll know if our official transcripts must be mailed? Or can they be emailed??

So I got matched with my employer 6 weeks ago. I am now waiting for graduate school admissions decisions! I am graduating from undergrad at the end of March. I am excited for these next few months ?. Anyone else?

Is anyone else still waiting for their "University Status" to go from "Pending Verification" to "Applied" ? I recall that the deadline for this is February 1st... But, what happens if the universities don't confirm by the date?

Really?? NASA Goddard reached out to me like 2 weeks ago for an interview. I declined because I already have an offer, but did they really tell you they don't plan on taking GEM interns?

Oh, sorry for the lack of clarification. I see that for the PhD route there are two: Employer and Associate Fellows. For the MS route there are three: Employer, University, and Associate Fellows.

Yes. I do believe that not having an employer does not disqualifying one from being a GEM Fellow, since there are 3 different levels of GEM fellowship.

The whole process is a bit of a mystery for me to be honest... But, once we accept a company offer and get accepted to a university isn't that it? We are in? I heard that getting the employer offer is one of the most important steps.

I believe that GEM has until February 1st to verify your university application status. So I would not worry about that until then.

You should say something along the lines of, "THIS company is my top choice. However, I am also interviewing with other companies at this time".

Hey, sorry to hear that. Have you heard back from any of the other employers? Employers are still reaching out to students. Just yesterday another employer reached out to me.
