  1. Hola @notyouraverageolé! ¿Qué tal?

As I said above, we are 5 in the literature track and 3 in the linguistics track. I can't tell you if there is a kind of waiting list, but in my case I haven't rejected or accepted the offer yet. I am waiting for NYU to make a final decision. I understand that the others accepted have not rejected the offer.

I take the opportunity to ask if they have had any news from NYU. From the DGS, they tell me that they are still deliberating, but I would like to know if there is any other information.

  2. Hello @_flora, welcome. I am in the same situation as you in the case of Northwestern and NYU. Regarding Northwestern, it is effectively a wait-list, but designed to evaluate the offers of other programs (in my case, it is because my research project is directly related to New York, so they told me to see my options at NYU, Columbia, Princeton and Cuny before contacting them again). Speaking of NYU, I'm waiting for the interview response just like you, so if I know anything I'll let you know (I understand that the decision should be made soon). Thank you very much for the information regarding Columbia LAIC, I suppose I will be rejected because they did not call me for an interview. Good luck in your applications.

  3. Hi all.

I hope that this process is going well and that the anxiety is gradually decreasing. I write to comment that I was accepted in Tulane and Cuny (literature track). Tulane was notified by mail and Cuny by website. I hope this information helps those who are interested in these programs. As an international student, I would like your thoughts on the programs and the cost of living in New York. Thanks so much for any help.

  4. Hi @vallejeandohow are you? In my experience everything went well. It was a nice talk and I was able to say everything I wanted about my interests and the program. I don't have high expectations because apparently we were 15 persons interviewed and there are only 4 places. However, after the business day was over, my POI wrote to tell me that we had many interests and problems in common and that the interview went well. How was your experience?

  5. @smgr Like my other interviews, this one was entirely in Spanish (I mention this because it seems like an important issue to me, since I don't feel very comfortable speaking English). It was with professors from the faculty and, although the block was scheduled for 20-30 minutes, we were between 40 and 50. It was a great interview in the sense that they recommended readings, commented on my research proposal and told me why they considered that NYU could be a good fit for me. So if you get called for an interview, everything should be fine. Just stay confident in your own ideas. Good luck!

  6. @smgr Hello! I hope everything is going well in this process.

Indeed NYU already interviewed me this week. They told me that the results will be in two weeks. Any questions or advice with the process at NYU I can help with my experience in the interview.
In my case, Columbia Laic has not contacted me either, it is the only university that has not told me anything. If I have new news I will report it here.

@GRADSPN1 Wow you are crushing it, interviews at Northwestern, Princeton and Tulane - CONGRATS!!! Let us know if you have any tips for interviews because it definitely seems like you are doing something right.

Thanks a lot! I hope all goes well in your case. Two important things from my experience, at least so far. Although the emails indicate that the interviews will be in English and Spanish, I only spoke Spanish on Wednesday. Also, although the email indicated that the interview would last 20 minutes, we spent approximately 50 minutes talking. I think that the fundamental thing is to know the SOP thoroughly and to argue in favor of it. Much success!

    Congrats! This is awesome!

Qq: Did you do your undergrad in the US?

Thanks a lot! I am Latin American and I did both my undergraduate and master's degrees in Latin America (that's why my english is poor). However, my three LORs are from academics with studies in the United States and England. I think that is helping me.

Hi all! I join the post.

I am applying to Columbia LAIC, NYU, Princeton, Cuny, Northwestern, and Tulane. Like some I study Latin American literature, with an emphasis on the southern cone. I am not going to expand on my CV but if someone wishes we can talk more. At the moment I have only received news from Northwestern on January 18 to be interviewed on January 19. The interview was supposed to take 20 minutes but we were approximately 45. I was told that the admission offers at Northwestern probably will not decrease or increase compared to last year. If I have more news, I will share it with you.

    Good luck to all.

LOL. I just uploaded the post and Princeton writes to me. They call me for an interview on February 4. If someone else is in this position we could cheer each other up and get through the anxiety together haha. Hugs
