I agree with all of this, but I will add that it can also be politics internally. I can depend on who needs a student vs. who wants or could kind of use another, who had a student come in recently, or who recently got funding. I can be based on things that have nothing to do with you or your CV. Though I will say that one of the things that all of prelim people told me they really liked was that, I had a lot advocacy, knowledge translation, and volunteer work in the field I'm applying to be in (I have nearly all the same CV things as you, but I'm just coming out of my UG, so no MA GPA).

Queens apparently just starting sending out formal interviews. You would have already had to meet with for a prelim. If you did then there is a slight chance you get invited, but they started sending them yesterday. Western has already done interviews. So I have no idea. I've only received 2 formal rejections thus far, and I know for sure that only 2 schools I applied too are still sending out.

FYI, apparently Queens sent out their formal interview invites today. Can anyone else confirm?

From what I've seen it applies to both. But I didn't apply to them so I'm not 100% sure.

From what I've heard on this forum and the discord the following have either already sent out invites, and/or acceptances: Windsor, SFU, Ryerson, UBCO, Waterloo, York, UoT (all), UNB, Dal, Western, UofCal, McMaster, and there is speculation that UBCV is complete as well.. I'm sure there are more but I'm not really paying attention most of the ones I didn't apply to. The ones I haven't heard anything about yet for formal interviews is Queens, and then maybe Uottawa, but because they do theirs different, I'm not really sure how to judge that.

UBCO sent theres out a while ago, interview day is next week. UBCV has been doing informal interviews for nearly a month. Not sure about formal though.

Apparently Windsor did they formal interview already. I did have a POI interview a while a go (beginning of Jan.), no rejection yet though.

I had a informal interview with a POI back at the beginning of January. Then I heard back that they went with another candidate on the 18th. Not sure if that's helpful?

Has anyone heard about formal interviews from Windsor, Ottawa, or Western?

I had 2 informal interviews with a POI but no information on formal interviews yet. I imagine they will go out this week though, based on what I read in other peoples comments.
