I was very lucky to be accepted at Yale yesterday. I received an email from the DGS notifying me, but my portal has not updated yet. They said "letters should go out via the electronic application system next week." My POI also emailed shortly afterwards. Happy to answer other questions
Hey - I was very lucky to be accepted at Brown and was notified on 1 February. I received an email saying that a decision had been made on my application and that I should log in to the portal to see the decision. I also received an email from the DGS and my POI yesterday.
I hope this helps you, somewhat. Fwiw, I think we're all anxious to hear from outstanding applications. Hope you hear some positive news soon!
Not a South Asianist, but definitely don't think that 'no interview = rejection' - it depends on the place and department that you applied to. Some places won't interview (in my experience Brown), while some do (in my experience Yale).
Hey - also a first-time user here. Just piping up to say that I also had a Yale interview in January, in the second week, with three professors for African History. They also mentioned that only 1 or 2 people are admitted for this field. Haven't heard anything back so far - have you? Best of luck to you!
