I got in MSML and my research interests lie in ML. CMU is number 1 in ML according to many metrics in the US. Yeah ETHZ is great and that is why I am in a big dilemma

What about CMU vs ETH. I could really use a current students opinion. Thanks

I am from India and my aim is to get a PhD and not a job. I didnt apply PhDs because my profile is not yet good enough to get into a PhD and I want to improve my profile and connections to improve my chances of a PhD

Oh great. If you dont mind me asking would you have chosen ETH over an US college. I am in the same boat and I have to choose between CMU and ETH albeit both are masters. Thanks

Just got accepted in ETH MSc in CS. At last the restless days of checking mails and portals are over I think lol.

Lol yeah I am getting restless. I need to accept my CMU MSML fast if I dont get in this. So getting this fast would help.

Nope I would not say it was technical. Just you need to know the details about your thesis proposal and your publication. I prepared by reading the papers that I used as reference to come up with my proposal and also read some available projects in the professors lab who was interviewing me. The professor interviewing me was the same professor whom I mentioned in SoP

I got notification on Monday that I have interview on Thursday. He asked me about my future plans, detailed discussion about my proposal and one of my publications. Then had a discussion about what other research interests other than the proposal and finally he asked whether I have any competing offers and when I said I have CMU MSML he talked about pros and cons of CMU and ETH since he did his PHD from CMU.
