  1. Was awarded a CGS-D with committee 195. BEYOND surprised about that ? I had very mediocre undergrad grades but a few publications, lots of industry experience, and great grad school grades. Congrats to all of the winners, and to all applicants. Getting to the national competition is a prize in unto itself.

Yes but 2nd year masters and 3rd and 4th year PhD students aren't eligible to apply. After courses and TAing, that doesn't leave a lot of time for people to get ahead in reasearch IMO.

And people who have transferred directly from MSc! I'm in a weird position where this is my third year (entered as an MSc) but technically my first as a PhD candidate (passed quals last spring), even though the cumulative degree timeline from entry is hopefully only 4 years...

  3. Also just a general question for those of us lucky to have, or have had, external funding support - does your supervisor remove/claw-back (some or all) of their portion of your funding package? I had that happen last year with OGS so my net gain from that scholarship was only about 1k ?

This is the answer I got from them: The results will be uploaded after 5 pm this evening. You will get a notification regardless of being offered or not awarded. You will receive an email with instructions on how to get access to your result.

So, relax for now, go do ur work and keep an eye on your email after 5 pm. Best of luck to you all!

5PM EST? Heh it doesn't really matter, but I have to schedule my stress today.

  5. Gah yeah this wait is painful. Extranet login and results in the same day? Maybe they’re moving to just directly notifying? Wish there was some kind of formal communication with anticipated dates/process!

  6. Also second time applying, but first time being accepted to national competition. Counting the days too :’) Last year, I received an OGS and heard by the first week of April - does anyone know if you still receive an offer from OGS or QEII if you also applied to NSERC (if successful)?
