  1. hiii ! congrats to all that made it in this cycle! didn't make it into any schools this cycle for my first year applying, so I was wondering, what is a good thing to do for next cycle preparations? I know my gpa was definitely a contributing factor and I am returning to as a non-degree student at my university. However, does anyone know if it matters what courses I take to increase my GPA? I was going to just take courses that are "easy" and unrelated to the SLP field, but should I take courses that would "look good"? Like, stats courses, language disorders courses, etc? Will it make a difference or should I just focus on doing well? also, does anyone know of any jobs that I could get into to gain some relevant experience as a recent grad? I looked around and things need diplomas or certain degrees, etc, so any ideas are appreciated.
  2. hey I just wanted to ask where you did additional courses to improve your gpa? im assuming athabasca?
  3. I've been seeing things about a professional reference and I just wanted to confirm that this type of reference is only if you have been out of school for X years? That's what I saw on the website lol bc I only submitted my letters from my professors
  4. hey so im pasting my letter of intent into orpas, but some of my paragraphs aren't tabbed and im trying to fix this, but its not letting me so I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this or this is how its gonna look. it looks so bad if I don't fix it so if anyone know I would appreciate it
  5. Since I retook the course, it does not count as a credit for that session on my transcript. For ex, I took 2 other courses plus this one I retook, but I only got 1.0 credits instead of 1.5. So I assume that the retaken course won't count on my sub-gpa because it wasn't counted as a credit? Hopefully this clarifies.
  6. hi ! I was wondering if anyone would have any insight for this: I retook a course because it was a prerequisite to apply for SLP, so on my undergrad transcript and by the rules of the school, it did not count as a credit towards my degree, just listed as "extra." but on the orpas website, it states for the sub-gpa calculation that they use the last 10 credits, even in the following scenarios: If the courses did not count toward a degree. are these two things the same? like not counting as a credit to my degree vs if the course did not count toward a degree. is orpas referring to electives, but you still got the credit?
  7. Does anyone remember for Uoft what did they say about the referee status ranks? I remember them saying they have to be a lecturer/assistant prof, but on ORPAS it says full-time faculty member and I do not remember this part from the session. One of the people I asked to write a reference letter is not full-time so I just wanted to make sure.
  8. Hello! I was wondering if there are any current SLP students who are willing to share what values in a successful candidate these schools are looking for?
  9. hi! first time applicant here and I do not know what to expect! lol super scared but currently working on my statement and for uoft they said 3000 characters for the first section, but the second part is optional. so im wondering if anyone knows what the limit is for the second part? I emailed them and they did not tell me, just reiterated what I already knew LOL. also, I was wondering if anyone knows how they look at your prerequisite courses? I retook the general linguistics requirement to get a better grade because my first year linguistics course grade was not good (first year am I right hahahaha), so how does this work? are they gonna ask which courses I am submitting as my prerequisites on orpas? or are they looking at any prerequisite courses I took, throughout the history of my undergrad?
