  1. Hello everyone, Quick note: I am not stating the universities name on purpose. I am not happy with my current graduate program. I am attending ***** University's Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy. I am not going to bash the program or school by any means. I definitely think that ***** is superior to some other "working adult" schools. However, the faculty are quite disappointing (have had one MFT for the last three terms, among other complaints), the coursework is easy (4.0 so far), I am not being challenged or motivated enough, am not retaining enough information, and the blended format STILL has many bugs & glitches. I have completed four, three unit sessions and am in the middle of two other classes (12 units at the completion of this term). I feel like the program is simply not working out for me. I cannot see myself being prepared for MFT internship or exams. Therefore, I was thinking of transferring to another school. My education is a free ride via an outside "family scholarship", which I am very grateful for. So, paying for classes is not an issue. I am looking at Loma Linda University's and Alliant International University's MFT programs. Alliant has a great percentage of first time CA MFT exam passers and both are accredited by COAMFTE. However, I have read a number of reviews online simply bashing Alliant. Should I listen to these reviews? Loma Linda University also have a number of disgruntled students really irritated at the religious course content. I don't mind a little religion, but I don't subscribe to Adventist beliefs and don't want to pay to be preached to. I live about 57-58 minutes from each program. However, I am not currently employed. Therefore, I will likely start full-time and switch to part-time if I am hired somewhere. I am pretty much asking everyone's opinion on 1) whether I should indeed transfer and 2) where I should transfer to.
  2. Hello all, I need help deciding which Graduate program/school to enroll in to become a Marriage & Family Therapist in California. A Doctorate in Psychology is not out of the question since an enterprise has offered to pay for any schooling...no matter the cost for any degree. I want to become a therapist...so a Masters or Doctorate will fulfill that. I am pretty much set on the Masters though. I am 26 with a 18 month baby and a wife. I am not currently working but will be soon. I graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor's in Business Admin. & Management with a 3.5GPA. I am in zip code 92592 and I want my school campus to be as close as possible. I don't like spending a lot of time commuting. I am thinking about Brandman Universities www.brandman.edu Master's in Psychology with emphasis in Marriage & family therapy. the campus is only about 43 minutes from my house vs other campuses being 1hr 20-1hr 45min.
