  1. I feel like at this point, they are sending out rejection letters. Only 28 ppl get accepted, so why would they take a long time with ppl that get accepted?

Just got an email! I have been waitlisted. The email said that they accept around 30% of the students off the waitlist each year, and to respond to say if I am interested in remaining on the list.

At least now I know that they are considering me. The big wait is finally over!

GOOD LUCK to everyone else and please keep us updated!

  2. I called the School of Social Welfare and asked about statistics for this year.

    Here's an update:

    Q: How many people applied?

    A: Over 700.

Q: When will we hear back about decisions?

A: Everyone should hear back by the first week of April, by email. Should not be later than the 4th.

Q: How many people applied for the Community Mental Health concentration?

    A: 180-190.

Q: How many spots are there for people in this concentration?

    A: 24-26.

So.. in other words, more than 100 more people applied this year compared to last year, and they are accepting fewer students. I think at the info session they said that they had 26-28 people in the CMH concentration last year.

(If any Berkeley admissions people are reading this and something here is incorrect, please feel free to correct).

Final thoughts: I'm not getting my hopes up.

that is insane. That's 2 in every 10 people. I think I'd agree with you there. I'm not getting my hopes up. I thought I had a strong chance, but I'm not so sure anymore....

  3. hi all, i applied to ucla last fall and is it me or are they HORRIBLE bout getting back to you? the admissions guy said that they would send an email confirmation to let you know that your application is completed, but i still haven't gotten that email! so strange.

berkeley, on the other hand, has been super good about getting back to me and their turn around is amazing. According to them, we should start hearing from them throughout this month! so nervous!

throughout this month, you mean february??? EEE!!! I applied to Cal community mental health concentration...

  4. why do they accept so many students?

i am currently finishing up my 2nd year of the msw program at columbia. i heard back on february 26 via email when i was accepted. i highly advise AGAINST this program for a variety of reasons, but one of them is the high cost. is it worth it? maybe if you're planning on staying in nyc. otherwise, i don't think so. because they accept so many students, the relationship with faculty is poor. also, there is only ONE advisor for all 800 students. the internship opportunities are great, but we work alongside hunter, nyu, and fordham students. bottom line: not worth it at all.

  5. Hello All

    Applied to 7 CSU's and 2 UC's MSW programs.

called SFSU, they said around 450 applied, 30 will be accepted

UCLA said over 400 applied MSW, 100 total will be accepted (both MSW, Phd)

Berkely said I should be hearing their dicision soon since I applied for the gerontology concentration.

Probably won't hear from CSU for 2 months,

    Waiting.........

YOU CALLED ALL OF THEM??? I wonder if I should call them too...

  6. yah. I felt as though UW and Berkeley are two ENTIRELY different programs. I felt like it reflected in their SOP prompt. UW- wanting a more self-reflective narrative, and Berkeley- wanting an academic paper. I definitely felt like I did two entirely different apps.

Regarding aid- what do you mean? no Financial aid for UW? Loans then?
