  1. On the same boat here. Waitlisted to McMaster and UofT. Unfortunately, by the sounds of it there was very minimal if not absolutely no movement in waitlists for Ontario schools this year. I am at a point were I am just trying to re-group and think of my next steps in terms on strengthening application for next year. It is definitely hard to come to terms that my life is not going to be what I hoped for this September. I am trying to determine if taking extra courses to raise my subGPA from a 3.85 would be worth it for me. I've done the rough calculations and I would be able to raise my subGPA to a 3.88 with a full load in the fall semester. It's honestly a lot of money to take another full semester so I am not sure. Also looking for more volunteer experiences. If anyone has any experience with being waitlisted, reapplying and then getting accepted I would really appreciate any advice.
  2. Does anyone who has accepted their offer to UofT know if the class is full? I am assuming it is. The facebook group has 28 members. I emailed student affairs to ask last week and got no response, not even a "we are unable to provide this information".
  3. Not too sure. I know that McMaster was clear that waitlisted applicants/additional offers would only be sent out after April 17th. However, UofT did not mention anything in the email/letter in regards to when we could expect to start hearing back.
  4. For those of you that were offered admission to either McMaster or UofT what is your initial deadline for accepting your offer? I am also curious for those who have applied in previous cycles if UofT has revealed wait list positions in the past? I am also seeing a lot of talk about different acceptance options once you are offered admission; e.g firmly accept vs. provisional acceptance. Any insight? Does it mention how long applicants are able to keep a "provisional acceptance" status- like a deadline?
  5. I was waitlisted to UofT via an email I received early this morning. However, they mentioned multiple times they will not be disclosing waitlist positions.
  6. I got rejected to Western and waitlisted to McMaster. Does anyone know if McMaster typically discloses waiting list positions? I've emailed to ask so I'll check back in once they email me back hopefully in the next couple of days. Nothing from UofT so like many I am assuming that means I got rejected. Congrats to everyone who got an offer of acceptance Genuinely so happy and proud of all of you ❤️ !
  7. I also have to work early tomorrow morning so I much rather cry tonight than cry before work tomorrow. I am trying to have a positive mindset and remind myself that whatever happens this does not define me. Which is so much easier said than done. There is so much more to all of us outside of this entire process. Wishing everyone the absolute best !!
  8. For my mental health and overall well being I really hope its soon after midnight. I rather not get a rejection in the middle of the day when I am at work. I don't see why it would be any different since I am assuming it's automated. Has anyone heard any different?
  9. Contrats to everyone getting accepted to McGill!! So happy for y'all!
  10. It really does feel that way, especially after the McMaster MMI invites went out. I am also a first-time applicant and was hesitant to even apply to McMaster as I knew my subGPA was not going to be as competitive as I'd originally hoped. For reference, I have a 3.85. That being said another factor could be that the graduating class of 2023, most of which theoretically started fall of 2019 had COVID affect their undergrad. This might have decreased competitiveness- subGPA (why some of us are surprised we got MMI invites) or even the number of applicants? Economic hardship post-COVID could also be affecting the number of applicants. People who are on the fence or those who feel like they don't really have a shot this cycle might prefer to wait until the next application cycle to apply. Instead of shelling out $500+ as a "practice" round/cycle. It could also be the case, like you said that the forum just isn't as popular this year for whatever reason, therefore not representative of the applicant pool. Applied to: UofT | McMaster | Western Rejected | Accepted | Waitlisted
  11. If you don't mind me asking what were your volunteer hours like? My volunteer experience is probably the weakest part of my application due to the pandemic and how hard its been to find volunteer positions. I'm sure many of us can relate. I know that technically it's been waived but I think it still plays a role into the strength of my SOI. I do have some volunteer experience, however, its all with adults and seniors with Aphasia, Dysphasia and Apraxia. Based on previous years I've read that the programs really look for variety and diversity across age groups and disorders in volunteer experiences. Anyone else on the same boat?
  12. Hi Everyone, first time applicant here! Although I’ve been following these forums for the last couple of years. I agree with other people there does seem to be less activity this year as compared to previous cycles. Just working on the finishing touches on my application. For those who might not be applying this cycle but plan to in the future. I’ve never seen cost be discussed on these forums but the fees really add up. I’m applying to 3 Ontario schools; UofT, Western and McMaster. I’ll be paying $510 in application fees. So just a heads up if you are reading these forums and plan to apply to SLP programs.
