Congrats to each of you for choosing to apply this cycle. Most people never even pull together an application out of fear of rejection--what a victory to face fear head on rather than wondering "what if". People often say "you only need one!" when referring to grad school acceptances, but whenever I said this after multiple rejections, my partner always reminded me "you only need zero." You need zero acceptances to validate your worth as a human being. You're wonderful, interesting, and powerful before and after this grad app cycle! Good luck to those EDLD applicants still waiting!

Yes, called yesterday. Thank you I hope they are still making calls today!

Hi all!! I can't believe this is real.. I also received a phone call accepting me into the program! HDLT PhD. Still in shock and so grateful after multiple rejections ? I didn't post it in the results page yet. They said to expect an official email by Friday.

Oh my goodness, wow, so lovely to connect with each of you. Thanks for the support @weallgotthis! That's also really helpful detail. I'm feeling so anxious but it's comforting to know I'm not alone haha. Hoping for the best for each of us!! @Rvmr @jackie987 @zh_awk!!

Hi everyone! Anyone else on this forum still holding onto hope for the HGSE PhD? I had an interview two weeks ago. I thought it went well, but in the meantime I've gotten rejected from two other schools and am just dying to find out now.
-
Got my first rejection yesterday from NYU, and am pretty sure it's a no from me for UPenn based on the interviews, since I listed interest in one professor but it's a different faculty's turn to accept a student in the department that I applied to. Still nothing from Northwestern, and now just hoping something good comes of Harvard or BC! We'll see!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! ?

I think it's standard, and I honestly also think faculty just don't know haha. During my interview, the one person said 3-4 weeks, then the other interview corrected them and said 2-3 weeks, and then the original person just said I have no idea. Hahaha. They said that faculty submit their lists, then GSE and the grad school have to approve those people and do some admin-y stuff, and then the notifications get sent out! So that's my guess why they probably just give some blanket "end of february" response! @zh_hawk I bet your interview was ahhh-mazing! Every person in this forum could have been successful here, in my opinion. Sometimes it's just a matter of fit or timing.

Does anyone have any indication of how many are being invited compared to how many are accepted, for HGSE specifically?
-
Thank you ? Just received an email about it today - Jan 28.
-
Just remember that worth has nothing to do with invites--try and find a way to care for yourselfduring this very trying season!

@amexpat it looks like we've applied to some similar programs! I applied to HGSE and Northwestern, same programs, but haven't heard anything. I have had an interview with NYU (psych and intervention) and they said that at the end of next week they'd be sending out invitations to an in-person event. UPenn has at least sent some interviews out.

Ugh, I'm sorry. This is such a stressful time. I hope each of us can find something that brings us true joy/excitement this week! Maybe watching a movie, walking somewhere new, or eating out at a new restaurant if it is in budget.
-
Also received an invitation to interview! It may be that they send them out over multiple days. Mine got sent out at around 12:30.
-
Sounds good--hoping you rest well!! @eduforall not sure if that means they'll go out today, maybe admin has to do stuff with it first. Sorry I can't be of more help!
-
@mintchocol8e you've got a great mindset about it, that's awesome. ❤️ @eduforallNot sure about the time. I heard Penn's lists are submitted, don't know when emails would go out for that though. (my friend's advisor is at penn.) They said that they had no idea if Harvard's were in yet. So maybe that means it'll be next week for Harvard.. who knows. I'm going to set a mental deadline for noon--if there's no word by then, I'm going to try to mentally check out for the weekend!
-
They're really playing around like that!! Come on people! Sorry that happened
-
Sorry, Boston College! Not British Columbia thank you so much! Sounds good to me! Haha
-
Wow, interesting!! All I know is I need to find some things to keep me busy the next few days. Phew! We got this!! *begins shaking nervously* lol
-
Wow, what a catch! I guess we'll see by the end of the week, between those of us on here and dispersed across reddit/twitter I guess we'll find out. Hoping each of us gets that invite! Either way, your sleuthing will greatly benefit future generations @mintchocol8e?

I applied to Northwestern, NYU, UPenn, Harvard, and BC. A mix of dev psych/educ for me. Got an invitation to interview with BC last night, otherwise, nothing so far! Thanks for the general thread! I had no idea how much I would want to talk to people in similar situations during this waiting period. My family just cannot relate haha, although I'm lucky they're supportive.

Thanks for the dates @mintchocol8e! My status still just shows submitted, so maybe I'm looking in the wrong portal or should just let go, and wait for an email to notify me. Although... A couple years ago I got into a master's program and they LOST my application for 3 months? I received an acceptance and apology in July.. after I had already relocated across the country for a different master's program. So maybe I should figure this out ? In either case, I found a great reddit thread about things to do instead of fretting about apps. I just checked out some audiobooks from the library to keep my mind engaged in something besides wondering when interview invites will/won't come! Here's the thread in case it helps.

Hi all! I've been lurking on the HGSE threads on grad cafe for 1.5 years now (eek!) and figured it's about time I make an account and join the conversation, since I learned so much from those who have been willing to post. I applied for the PhD this year and am anxiously awaiting the results. This is my first time applying, I was rejected from the HGSE EdM in 2021 but did a master's at a comparably ranked uni in the meantime. I also applied to NYU, Northwestern, and Penn, among others. We'll see!! Good luck everybody!
