Depends on your area of study. For rhetoric PSU is pretty much #1 and I haven’t heard anything about UMass in terms of rhetoric scholars. I have no idea about the social sciences though.

Hey! I actually applied another cycle and am currently in a PhD program but just came on here because I was curious (and helping to advise a couple people through the process right now). From my understanding and experience, Maryland always conducts an interview for their final round applicants by the program director.

Has anyone heard from Penn State’s PhD comm? I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t get in because I know it’s a pretty competitive program, but still thought I’d ask if there were any other applicants here. congrats to everyone getting acceptances btw

Hey! I applied to a handful of PhD programs in Comm this year. My focus is rhetoric. So far I've been accepted to U of Illinois (UIUC) and U of Minnesota. Waiting to hear back from 2 more. Seems like the hearing back process takes a hot minute for some schools. Best of luck to the rest of you guys!
