Hi all, I have just firmly accepted my offer to Western, so a spot on McGill's waitlist will open up! I am not sure if other schools do this but if you have the chance to visit a school you may be considering before accepting, I 100% would! I've just toured Western today and learned some interesting things about Western's program as well as cool opportunities that I would have never known about previously! -

Hello all! Has anyone who received an offer gotten information related to bursary/entrance scholarship on their letter? I have heard previously that if a school is to offer financial aid to you directly it would be through the offer letter, but I have not received that. I specifically am curious about Western or McGill offers (because those are what I have received), but if anyone who got offers from other schools has any info I'd love to know as well TIA! -

I was waitlisted in the 4th quadrant last year (bottom of the list) but was accepted to Western this year! I don't mind sharing here because I am sure it would benefit others too. My subGPA is 3.82 and i got 4Q Casper, I only took an extra phonetics course over the last year to apply to McGill, didn't think it was necessary to focus on upping my grades. As soon as I was waitlisted last year, I began volunteering with older adults with aphasia and later I got a job as an SLPA working with clients of all ages and varying speech abilities. I think many people have these same types of experiences, so I would say I think the most important thing I did was re-read my personal statement from last year (mine was trash LOL) and instead of regurgitating my CV that they already have, I focused on little moments that made me more passionate about the field and helped me learn about the broader community (e.g., learning about new cultures and new life perspectives while interacting with different clients). I also did some research in my undergrad and talked about how letting research guide my practice as an SLPA helped me a lot. All in all, I think sharing the little moments you take away from relevant experiences is much more impactful than just listing what you did during an experience. Please feel free to message me if you have more questions.:) Adding an edit to say I did not find any SLPA job postings online (only for CDA, at least in my general area) so I took it upon myself to cold email like 20 clinics lol but it only takes one to have some confidence in your ability to provide therapy! -

my portal still says "in review", I'm thinking it may take some time to change? -

Hey! I can't say for certain because I was waitlisted last year but from my understanding, Western prioritizes experience over grades as compared to a school like UofT or Mac. I know people who got rejected with high 3.8s and know one person who got in with a 3.65 hopefully this provides some sort of reassurance! -

I'm thinking that Western's CSD website is somewhat outdated because in the email I received from them they said they would inform us about their decisions on the 3rd @slptobeeeeeeeee @tsslp -

Congratulations to all of you who got into UofA today!!!!!! You all should be very proud because this is a big deal!😊 On a completely unrelated note, to everyone who applied to McGill..... what do you think is gonna happen on the 2nd? Do we think an email will come out at midnight??? Do we think they're still gonna call during the day?!? I know there's no real way of knowing (unless someone called) but i'd love to know what you all think because the nerves are eating me ALIVE -

I wonder if this means the applicant portal will update at midnight or if they'll send emails/call sometime during that day... either way that's gonna be one stressful day with ORPAS decisions coming out at midnight the next day! -

Hey! That's so interesting but also kind of strange that they told someone else we'd hear back this week and now it's April? Did they give you a reason why? The deadline to accept offers is April 15th so I'd think early April cuts it close -

Hey I believe McGill considers your entire Bachelor's degree since their website references a "cumulative grade point average" (cGPA) which means that would be your average across all undergraduate years! -

Congrats to everyone who got an invite from McMaster! That's so exciting! I did not apply but am curious about what those of you who did apply think the cutoff may have been to gage the applicant pool? Do we think it is higher than last year's? If anyone is comfortable answering this I'd love to know. Thanks -

lol last year I just submitted the pdf with the subject line "[lastname].[firstname].SLP Package" so I think anything of the variation you suggested would be good!
