  1. Last year I didn’t have any interviews and this year I had one for visual arts and one for art history (dual degree program, but these two weren’t for the same school). I usually ask about what’s important for me like facilities, funding, teaching opportunities, and jobs post-grad, like what are their alumni doing. It’s always good to ask questions! You can even ask them to be more specific on something they mentioned during the interview. Also, just because you don’t get requested for an interview, doesn’t mean you’re not getting in! Unless they specifically say on their website they do interviews, some programs just do not interview! The one I got into last year didn’t do interviews.
  2. This is my second time applying! I got into one program last year and couldn’t afford it so I didn’t attend. The best thing you can do is remind yourself it’s out of your hands now and all you can do is just wait. You’ve done everything you can! Congrats on submitting everything! Things work out how they’re supposed to : ) I know it’s easier said than done to just relax and pat yourself on the back right now..but you got this!
  3. I am! It’s rough out here bc that’s the most common discipline
  4. I applied to CMU and I feel like most of the negative stuff I’ve seen is old..but I could be wrong and feel free to correct me! It’s a well-ranked program but it was very much my reach school and I like the work being made there. I think if you have everything prepped, are able to apply then it doesn’t hurt to, and think the program will be a good fit then it doesn’t hurt to apply!
  5. Nope! But I saw you had an interview so, congratulations! I’m assuming since I haven’t had an interview a rejection is imminent. It may just take some time to hear back post-interview for you.
  6. Last year I applied and prioritized location over funding and regretted it! But, it really depends on how much debt you’re willing to take on/money you have put away for school. Yes, schools can give you more funding than planned, but that was unfortunately not the case for me! I applied to multiple programs, got into one, and couldn’t attend because of the cost. I even had a nearly half-off scholarship! I was based in NYC and I couldn’t afford it at all. This year, I’m focused on funding and I’m much more excited about my programs. Especially Purchase’s dual degree! That’s my top choice right now. If you have any questions, feel free to message me! Also, good job for getting ahead! I did that both years and it makes the process so much easier..
  7. Dual degree!
  8. I applied to Purchase as well! Are you applying for the dual degree program or just visual arts?
  9. Hey! I applied to Amherst. I’m not sure about the student who applied in the past, but usually what schools put on their website they stick with. That being said, it’s possible that they didn’t! Don’t give up yet!
  10. Hi all, I got into one program last year and because I was nowhere near comfortable with going into a ton of debt for that school, I ended up deciding to reapply for different programs! I’m applying to Purchase’s dual degree program, Amherst, Carnegie, and possibly UAlbany. My goal post-grad is to teach, so if anyone has any opinions on programs great for that, let me know! Good luck to everyone!
  11. From what it seems painting applicants for RISD, Hunter, and Bard have already gotten responses. Is it safe to assume that I'll be receiving a rejection since I haven't heard anything? Also, people who have been accepted to programs in the past but didn't attend and decided to reapply for different programs in future years, can I ask why? I'm somewhat considering it due to financials, but I'm not sure if it's the right decision for me. Congrats to everyone who has had interviews/acceptances/ and any other good things happen to them lately!
  12. Hi all! Sorry, I got logged out of my account and every time I tried to log back in it would glitch out lol. So far my predictions are correct and I've gotten a rejection and three assumed rejections (I haven't heard anything, but other people on this forum have had interviews/acceptances). I haven't heard back from Concordia yet, but I'm guessing they're later bc the application was so late. So far, I've gotten one acceptance at the New York Academy of Art for painting.
  13. Hello! It's my first year applying for MFAs and I'm going in with very low expectations because I know it takes people multiple times to get into a program. All my applications are submitted except one that hasn't opened their slideroom yet :(. I'm applying to Bard, Concordia (in Canada), Hunter, Rutgers, RISD, and the New York Academy of Art. I wish everyone the best of luck!! Also, what concentrations (if you're applying to one) is everyone going for?
