  1. Thanks for the feedback! I would generally prefer to research topics that are more applied than theoretical, but the type of research is less important to me than a strong culture in the department. Geographically, I care most about the walkability/transit options of the campus and the city it's in. Both coasts and midwest are good for me.
  2. Undergrad Institution: Large State School (R1, 100+ Math Ranking) Major(s): Mathematics GPA: 4.0 Type of Student: Domestic white male GRE General Test: Q: 170 V: 163 (don't know writing yet) Programs Applying: MS and PhD in Statistics Research Experience: Interdisciplinary research (computer science, polisci, & statistics) under math professor, never published. Awards/Honors/Recognitions: National Merit Scholarship, Summa Cum Laude Letters of Recommendation: Strong one from professor I did research (and had courses) with, another strong one from an applied course professor, a good one from proof-based professor. None are well-known Math Courses: Calc I-IV, Linear Algebra, Applied Statistics, Real Analysis, Number Theory, Mathematical Models, Proof-based Geometry Course, Abstract Algebra, Graph Theory I am already certain about a few programs (MS and PhD) that I am applying to, just looking for a suggested range to target for any additional schools or any other feedback. Definite preference for urban campuses, but not necessary. Thank you!!
