  1. Yes, I applied to the Ph.D. program, and then in April, they accepted me as an MA student without funding.
  2. I'm not sure about the current situation at Johns Hopkins, but I can share my experience with NYU. Last year, I applied to that and they announced acceptances and rejections in early February. After a radio silence, I received an acceptance in APRIL, but unfortunately, it did not come with funding. So, it really depends
  3. Congratulations to those who were accepted into Penn State's History program! Could you please share your subfield?
  4. Has anyone heard anything from Cornell?
  5. Congrats, AB2024, for your acceptance to UCSB; what is your subfield?
  6. Hi, I am a bit late, but I can answer your questions as a Ph.D. student in Middle East History. First of all, yes, you should contact your POI before applying, and if it is possible, you should ask for a short Zoom meeting to introduce yourself before applying. Some universities do formal interviews after the application. Still, others can accept or reject you without a formal interview (I had two acceptances without a formal interview but met before the application informally. There is no guarantee based on your CV achievements; it is all about the fit, the financial situation of the department, the willingness of the professor to accept you, your research experiences, and your ability to prove that you can survive in a Ph.D. program.
  7. Hi Yagiz, who is your POI at Yale? My subfield is also the Middle East; if you don't mind, I would like to learn about the schools you applied to and got interviews with. All the best.
