Just got a notification that I was recommended by the departament and still was refused admission at a Phd in Art and Architectural History... 😭

I also saw in last year posts people saying they got funded and it was one of the reasons I applied. Not that I received anything 🙃. But wouldn't be able to go if it wasn't funded anyway so...

Also, anyone knows how the funding for MA in Columbia works? They said is "very limited and I should expect no funding" if I am accepted to the MA. But I have seen some people on gradadmissions on reddit for other disciplines saying they have TA/RA paying 13k to work 10hrs a week. Anyone knows anything about that? There's just no way I could go if there is really no funding.

Well... just got the Columbia rejection. They said they sent my application for the master but already advised of the no funding situation for the M.A. Really hoping for the Penn State MA to work out for me now... Out of 12 applications, I think it's pretty much this or the waitlist for the PhD at Rice for me... Kind of already expecting a rejection for the others 🫠 This is to say, if anyone receives news about the MA at Penn State please post it so I can manage my expectations thanks 🙃

Just catching a ride on that to ask if anyone know about interviews for the MA at Penn State. I saw that people posted that they got interviews for the Ph.D but nothing about the MA. I applied for the MA so I was wondering if there are interviews and if so has anyone done them this cicle? Short question is: Am I being ghosted by this program also?

I'm asking because I'm also international and I'm on the waitlist and Rice is my first choice, so I am just wondering my chances of being accepted off the waitlist.

Duke invites people in person, but when they have international students they do a virtual thing also. Duke was my first choice T-T, so I'm very sad to not have been invited but it is what it is, just hope I get accepted somewhere. My friend last year was invited to go, but since she was international and didn't have a visa she couldn't go. So I know they did a virtual thing and she was accepted to the Ph.D.

Hi everyone, I'm an international student, and I applied to the following universities: - Temple - Rice - Northwestern - UVA - Emory - Yale - Duke - Princeton - Penn State - UMASS - Columbia - Maryland I applied for master's programs at Penn State and UMASS, while the rest were Ph.D. programs. So far, I've been rejected by one and had interviews with two others. One waitlisted me, and the other hasn't provided any updates since the interview, which is worrying me. My area of focus is early modern art and architecture in Europe. I haven't heard back from the others yet, and I'm starting to doubt my chances. This year, I planned my entire life around the prospect of being a graduate student abroad, and now I'm facing the possibility of not being accepted anywhere. Just venting my frustration here. Hi! Has anyone heard from Duke? I heard they were going to send out invites for the campus visit from a student there, but no one posted anything here so 🫠
