I'm applying to McMaster for an M.A.Sc in ChemE. However, I screwed up and emailed professors for interviews before my SOP/application had been submitted. I just did an interview that seemed to go well, but the professor asked about my application, to which I said that I would complete it next week (my initial timeline anyways). Is this immediately going to discount me??? For some additional context on the situation: my marks weren't as high as I wanted them to be for applications, so I waited until Fall semester marks came out to apply. Unfortunately, my university delivered my marks with a huge delay (they usually release them in late Dec, but this year it was the second week of Jan.), which further delayed my application. Also, I mixed up the graduate interview process at McMaster with other universities I was looking at (my mistake, I know, I messed up). With other unis, they want you to procure a supervisor first, and then do your application afterwards. I made a huge mistake by thinking McMaster acted the same way. They are actually the opposite - they want you to submit your application first, and then they choose you from a pool of applicants + interviews. I finished the interview this Tuesday - I was supposed to get a response on Friday/Monday, but I can't stop worrying over the mistake I made.
