There were two emails. The first invitation does not ask for you to RSVP. The second one does. If you received the second one, then you got in. Contact their grad program and they will notify you. I was notified a few days later after some of the other applicants.
I just got a response from their admission staff, "Applications are still being processed, so make sure to keep an eye out for any updates on your applicant portal and any emails about admissions results (which are currently being sent out up until early March). We understand your concerns and we appreciate your patience during the application process. "
It's so confusing. I wish they were more consistent with their how they contact students. I seriously just want to know whether or not I was rejected so I can move on.
Is it normal to get invited to their Graduate Admit Date even when you haven't heard back? Last Friday, everyone seemed to hear back from UCI, but I haven't. I was interviewed and assuming I got rejected. All the 3 people who got admitted seem to got accepted into better programs, so I am positive sure that they will turn down their offers at UCI.
Did the PI ever reach out to you? I talked to 3 other people and 2 of them were directly interviewed by the PIs they wanted to work with, but these two people did not meet their PIs before the application. I met my PI before the application.
One applicant was interviewed by the Interim Chair and an admission committee professor. Then this week her PI reached out and interviewed her directly.
Had my screening interview with UCI. If you already did with UCI, can you message me? I am curious about everyone's experience. My interview went very well because the interviewers were too nice so I was unable to read them. I don't know if they are just being professional or actually found me interesting.
