I applied to 10 programs last year ðŸ˜but I improved my strategy this round. This year I applied to 7 schools - and I applied only if I was able to get in contact with professors whose work aligned with my research. It's worked so far, as I was accepted to one history program!
The wait is definitely killing me. I've been constantly refreshing my email for an update from UW Madison 😅 I agree with you on the power of "one yes"! Last year I was rejected from all of the PhD programs I applied to, so this cycle all/any yeses are welcome XD. I hope you get good news soon!
Sure! In my statement of purpose, I mentioned the Center for the Study of Citizens and Politics and the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication. My research topics were Media History, Media Effects, and Behavior Change.
I got an email from a potential advisor at UPenn saying she reviewed my file, would love to work with me, and has her fingers crossed- good news! But she didn't say I was accepted. Does this mean the advisors' review is separate from the actual admissions? In other words, does this mean I actually have a chance 😅
Just finished applying to a mix of history and comms programs! This is my second round of applications- I already have my master's in international affairs and a good amount of work experience. For communication, I applied to the PhD programs at USC, UW-Madison, UPenn, and American University
