Planning Admissions 2024
silas-haslam replied to Planning2Plan's topic in Architecture and Planning Forum
I accepted my offer from UofT! Still no word from UBC, but I think even if I do get in during a second round my chances of any funding are slim so it almost makes more financial sense to move to Toronto, and the opportunity is too good to pass up. Happy to connect with anyone else who'll be attending! And huge congrats to everyone here... seems like lots of us got into our first-choice programs š„³ -

I'm THIS close to accepting UofT but still waiting to hear back from UBC before I do. I just emailed SCARP admissions directly (a faux pas, I know) as I need to accept or reject VIU and Toronto tomorrow/Friday. Hopefully they get back to me today... -

Did you receive the UBC offer yesterday? Or today? -

Still waiting here too š I'm hoping to hear back in the very near future because I only have until the 4th to accept VIU. Also waiting on UofA and UofT, but I'm a lot less likely to go with either of those without considerable funding as I live in B.C. -

Rejected from SFU MRM just now. In fairness I didn't meet the stats course requirement and the program doesn't really align with my goals so I don't blame them -

Congrats to you too! Really happy to get a yes from anywhere as I've been out of school for a while and this is my first time applying for a masters. I checked the Student Record portal just to be sure but doesn't look like there's any funding offers. Their internal awards for grad students seem to mostly revolve around conferences. Does anyone know much about the different scholarships available to planning students? Federal/provincial programs? I know professional schools typically don't give out as much so will need to start exploring my options now that I have an offer on the table... -

Omg LOL we had the exact same experience. I was actually stoked for the interview until I found out it was recorded⦠Iām usually pretty good face-to-face. I donāt think Iāve ever been so awkward as I was with the ātell us about yourselfā⦠I basically just ran through what I said on my statement in 30 seconds then said a bunch of nonsense to fill the silence hahaha. I had an OK response for the current issue but I wanted to mention an article I read recently to show I was engaged with the subject matter, and I think i did it in a really forced way⦠I also only used like 2 mins per answer haha. That said Iām sure we did better than we think! Hopefully they donāt take too long to get back to us -

Oh I just noticed that⦠ha! Yea, the impersonal format and only two interview questions was really odd, I will say. I was pretty nervous for the first one but warmed up for the second, then it was over. I suspect the real test is to see how we do under pressure hahaha -

No⦠just what youād expect. I got ātell us about yourselfā and āwhat is a trending global issue and how can planning address itā One thing to note⦠it is only TWO official interview questions. I know the email says this, but at one point during the interview it mentions four questions because it counts the two mock interview questions. Kinda caught me off guard when the interview abruptly ended LOL -

Also got an interview invite from UBC! Just submitted my recordings. Good luck to everyone doing theirs in the coming days! -

Welcome @bonk! Still radio silence from the schools I applied to. I was speaking with my friend who applied for planning programs in 2022 and he received his UBC interview invite first week of March. SFU was March 24 and UofT was early April for him ā both acceptances and with funding, so he was likely part of the first round. Not sure about UofA but it seems like they've been fairly early (like, around now) in previous years. So, hopefully not much longer now! Hope everyone's staying sane out there š¤ -

Still anxiously awaiting decisions over here! Sounds like we applied to similar schools though. Iām waiting on UBC, SFU, VIU, UofA, and UofT. Best of luck to everyone in the same boat⦠looking forward to hearing everyoneās results!
