Hi! Your stats seem pretty good but they use a sub gpa rather than a full gpa meaning they will only consider the average of your most recent courses (10 full or 20 half credit). depending on the school, they do put more emphasis on grades like mcmaster, but i would say your resume looks pretty good! good luck with you applications for next year!
-
oh that is super weird especially if the application submitted! maybe you could call your bank to see if it will show up in a couple of business days? i hope it all works out
-
did you get an emailed receipt? i went through the CIBC student thing and paid through my bank there (i am not a cibc user) and it went through right away. did you do it a different way?

Hi! I haven't done the CDA program but I did apply for it this year as a backup option as this is my second time applying to the SLP programs. I think GPA is also one of my problems but hoping for the best this year! In taking the CDA program, I think it would be amazing experience for sure as I have talked to some other people who have taken it and they have really loved the experience and they said its good prep for SLP. Although, I am not sure that CDA courses can be used in the sub GPA calculation. I could be totally wrong lol, but I don't know if all the SLP programs accept college level courses / references from college level professors. Again, I think doing this program would be a good opportunity and I did apply for 2025, but I also have to look into what schools are / are not accepting from colleges. I haven't heard much about the ENMU program so I can't really speak on that but would love to know more about this too! Is it just pre requisite courses, or do you also come out of it with a certificate like the CDA program? I hope any of this helped, lol! Good luck to you as well with your applications in the future

From my understanding, i don’t think we submit a volunteer summary at all for this application (they’re still holding off on clinical experience because of covid). The person I was emailing said that you can discuss any relevant experience in your statement of intent if you can. UofT asks for your knowledge of slp field for question 4 or 5 i think on the requirements of the letter, and so i talked about the experience i have and what i’ve learned, etc. I hope that makes sense!
-
Hey! Not sure if this has been answered but UofT is still not looking at volunteer experiences, so we dont have to include this in the application. If you have any experience, you add it in with the statement of intent. I emailed them to ask where to send in a CV/that volunteer section and this is what the person told me!

Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone may know how the sub gpa calculation works with summer school courses. So my 20 most recent half credit courses include a summer course, which means I think they average a semester as that semester is where they are pulling the 20 credits from (if that makes any sense at all lol). This is from the ORPAS website: Where course grades and/or lengths must be extracted from a grouping or duration to make up the 20 course grades and/or lengths required, we will use the average of the next grouping or duration of ORPAS GPA values. In the situation where “Full‑time”, “Supplementary” and “Semester” durations exist for the same year, we will use the “Supplementary” grades first, then “Semester” and then “Full-time”. so in this case, i am wondering how they would weigh an averaged semester. All of my courses are a 0.5 credit, with one course at 1.0 credit , so im wondering if when they do the calculations, the averaged semester is weighed at a 2.0 or something? If anyone who has gotten in has any idea at all please let me know! Anything at all helps. hope that made sense haha, thanks in advance!

i think last year i submitted it through the SAM section just how western wants you to submit your CV through there too... but i think this could've been wrong LOL. i was unsure if it was supposed to be with your letter because there is so little room already to say what you want in the LOI. on their website it says to have it in the second section, but then on ORPAS it doesn't say anything under personal submissions about the experience/volunteering (unless its been changed) if anyone who has applied and been accepted can give us any advice we would all appreciate it!

they didnt last year but before that i’m not sure! i only know of mac doing interviews but there may be others

I would also appreciate any advice on this as a second time applicant! Thanks in advance -
Western doesn’t look at volunteer hours but I guess it’d be good on the CV/Resume as they look at that

I also think this is a great GPA! I believe they take the 20 most recent classes if I'm not wrong... typically, if you are starting your 4th year in sept 2024, they will take your first semester of 4th year, all of your 3rd year, and the last semester of your second year (considering you took 5 classes in each semester, and no summer classes). This is how i remember them doing it last years applications, but i could be totally wrong hahaha. If you had taken summer school (like I did), then they would have to average your second year grades and weigh it as a 2.00 rather than a 1.00. They have to average it because getting to the 20 courses does not take up the whole semester of courses because of those summer courses, if this makes any sense. They outline it much better on the actual ORPAS website or on last year's forum. I hope this helps!

I think it’s rounded up? Mine last year was only 2 decimal places which I believe was rounded.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to start the 2025 Canadian SLP forum for application/re-application prep and discussions! I know its really far in advance but we have a platform to share any tips, questions resources, news, or advice for topics such as subGPA, volunteering, statement of intent, reference letters, etc. Wishing everyone the best of luck on their applications!
