  1. I'm from Europe too! Yeah it's tough, especially since now, most of the application periods for universities here in Europe are already closed too, so it feels like there isn't really any alternative left either. It would just feel like I'm wasting yet another year. I got accepted into a school in NYC and just the sheer amount of exposure you could get there and opportunities to network and showcase work, I can't even compare it to where I'm from. But the quality of life is a big concern for me too, that and the inflations which doesn't seem to be going down any time soon either.
  2. Hello, might be a bit of a different question, but to all prospective international students, what is your current attitude in starting a new course of study? I have been accepted after two years of unsuccessful rounds and was really looking forward to studying in the US, but with everything that is going on currently, I am somewhat starting to rethink my decision. I have already committed and payed my enrollment fee which is kind of a bummer. Anyone else struggling to make a decision right now? 😭
  3. has anyone heard back from parsons for fine arts? I'm still waiting on a decision and it already feels very late considering its already April 😭
  4. I received my acceptance last week via email
  5. Pratt decisions are out!
  6. Yes I have received my notification via email to check the portal. I think last week? Idk I'm not sure but its been a while
  7. I'm just asking out of pure curiosity, but how old is everyone here applying? I'm in my mid 20s and I don't know why but I almost feel already too old to start a new chapter in my life.
  8. I had my interview 2 weeks ago with them I was really nervous prior too, but the two profs were super nice and friendly and it didn't come across as intimidating at all! They asked about my practice and background, and in what direction I want to go with during my MFA there, as well as what I expect to gain from attending Pratt. They also made me choose one work from my portfolio to talk about in depth. They generally asked a lot more questions about my work and practice then any other interview I attended thus far. But it was pretty chill overall. I don't remember the questions all to well though but I hope this helps at least a little bit
  9. I already had mine last week and if I remember correctly they only interview last week, so I would assume yes but not 100% sure
  10. I got into SVA too and got my acceptance early February I think and then got a seperate email about a week later for my scholarship with all the information in it. But if you applied priority deadline you are automatically considered for scholarship so if you where chosen to receive one you should get an email automatically soon I think!
  11. I'm sorry to hear that. International student here also, and I don't know if it's harder per se to get accepted. From my experience however I have noticed that especially within interviews it is sometimes hard to articulate cultural differences. Especially when it comes to backgrounds and inspirations or at least describing it in a way where it doesn't come across as cliché. And for personally, I struggle a lot with anxiety and then on top of that there is always a language barrier in interviews to some degree which definitely tears down my confidence as well. From what I have heard from my professors it is also harder to get into grad school if your undergrad is not a related discipline (which also applies to me). But all in all it just comes down to whether or not your work fits into whatever they are looking for I think.
  12. I unfortunately work around one month on one piece so I only have one new and the others I will have to select some older but still recent ones (that are definitely not the same quality as the ones I used for my portfolio on the application imo). So yeah also a mix of old and new. I'm just hoping they don't bring them up and it's just going to talk about the pieces I submitted on my portfolio 😭 But good luck for your interview tomorrow!!
  13. Has anyone interviews with hunter before? I have my interview next week and im hella nervous 🙂 anyone got any tips? especially with the whole preparing 5-10 recent works to screen share
  14. Haven't heard back either unfortunately, last year I got my interview invitations at the end of February but. believe someone here on this thread said that interview invitations were already sent out
  15. For anyone wondering, SVA sent out scholarship emails yesterday!
