  1. I finally got that rejection from BU I've been expecting the past couple months- only I sadly had a dream last night in which I was accepted, so that made it a little harder. Still waiting on Brandeis, Indiana, and Case Western.
  2. Well, that brings it down to four answers I'm still waiting on....I've been "conditionally" admitted to U of Oregon! (Need to take a couple more theory courses, as I didn't actually do my undergrad in music)
  3. Can they do that? Keep us waiting until even after the 15th? I am still waiting on responses from 5 schools out of 7, and trying to convince myself that doesn't mean they've just forgotten about me....
  4. Good to hear. On the fretting front, anyone heard anything from Case Western yet?
  5. Well, this is an added bit of stress. I mentioned before that I am currently out of the country and was therefore unable to attend the Indiana University interview weekend, and I of course attempted to communicate this to IU as well, through phone calls, voice mails, and e-mails, offering phone or skype interviews whenever might be convenient for them. Although I made all these attempts more than a month ago, they *just* got back to me asking when we could set up a long-distance interview, at the point where I was just about ready to give up on any chance, considering their lack of a response to any of my contacts. Does anyone know how the odds look for people they ask for an interview- as in, do they ask 75% (or most) of their applicants, or is it really more indicative of true consideration or interest on their part (less than 50%)?
  6. Yep, I just got the rejection from Penn too.
  7. Is there anyone else who hasn't heard anything from BU? I mean, at this point I'm assuming I didn't get in, but I sure would like to hear a real answer. Same goes for UPenn.
  8. Is that for the Masters program, that they tend to delay in their responses? I am so impatient right now- still waiting on 6 out of my 7 schools, and pretty excited about Brandeis' program....
  9. I've heard nothing back from Penn- nor from Boston, unfortunately! Did they call you by any chance? I am thinking my responses might be a little slow to reach me as I'm currently abroad and they will have to either email me or send it through the old-fashioned mail across the ocean....congratulations on getting into BU, at any rate!
  10. Trust me, I know where you're coming from- I was living abroad on a teaching assistant salary last year, and this year am living abroad on an au pair salary! The only thing that enabled me to apply to all 7 was the full-time job I had Starbucks for a few months over the summer/fall. I see your B.A. was in Music and French, I don't suppose we're living abroad in the same country? By the way, my seven schools are: Case Western, Indiana, Boston, Brandeis, U of Oregon, McGill, and UPenn
  11. I believe it was originally scheduled to be February 4th, but unfortunately (at least for grad school app purpose) I am currently living and working abroad, and will not be able to attend any of these interviews. I am hoping that I can convince schools that they want to have a phone/skype interview, and that it won't hurt my chances of getting in. Good luck to you, though!
  12. I have also just spent more money than I ever though possible applying to 7 different grad programs, and I too have received an interview invitation from IU, but no further communication since then. Hopefully we will start hearing back a little more soon....
  13. I'm also applying for Fall 2011 in musicology. Melchior, what programs are you looking at in the UK? I've been investigating some schools over there as well, but the grad school format is so different, I've been having a little trouble distinguishing which programs I might be interested in.
