  1. I finally accepted my doctoral award (for September)! As I am attending a Canadian institution, are there no documents I need to upload? The guide says: For awards held outside of Canada and for all PDF awards, one of the following documents must be uploaded to the appropriate secure submission site : Canadian citizens must provide a copy of an official document indicating their citizenship (for example, birth certificate, citizenship card or passport). Permanent residents of Canada must provide a copy of an official document indicating their landing date in Canada (for example, IMM 1442, IMM 5292, IMM 1000 or permanent resident card); if the landing date was after the application deadline, NSERC or SSHRC will cancel the offer of award. Protected Persons, as defined under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), must provide a copy of an official document verifying this status. I read this as I don't have to submit anything... is this correct?
  2. It pushes your end date too! If you got 4 years and a Jan start then you would end Jan 2029
  3. I haven't accepted yet, I was sort of waiting it out. I'll do either May or September but won't push it until January. Hopefully they do retroactive, though I'm going in with the mind that this year would be $20K and next will be $40K. That said, it's usually use it or lose it with budgets so they'll want to get that $$ out there ASAP.
  4. The budget was passed on May 1st! It's unlikely that the departments know much yet in terms of time line, as it can take time to roll funds out across the departments, even though the budget is passed. Source: I used to work in government (not THAT government).
  5. I received that as well, but I have yet to accept my award. I think that was just automated to all successful candidates. I plan on accepting next week but I'm still waffling between May and Sept given the budget changes... hmm.
  6. I've heard both ways. The 2024/25 budget came out two weeks after the fiscal year rolled over (1 April), which is super super late. Normally it would be approved before we move into the next FY. So it just depends on when they approve it. The NDP said they would support the Lib budget, so it looks like it will go through, it's just a waiting game. Someone commented that technically we are in the 2023 competition year, but that doesn't take sense to me as we would be getting funded from the 24/25 FY not 23/24, as that budget is spent and closed. SO I think we're getting it, I just don't know when. I have a meeting with my school's Dean tomorrow to chat about logistics and I'm hoping to get any insight they may have - but this increase is unprecedented, so it's not likely anyone really knows how it is going to roll out. Just another waiting game. Congrats on your award!! I just watched the HoC sitting from yesterday and it looks like it did pass?
  7. I think I might have put Sept 2024 on the drop down during my application? I honestly can't remember. But from what I heard from students who received it last year in my department once they were awarded it, they had the option to choose either. I heard our school prefers May start dates.
  8. My school sent me info on the installment! On my award notice my start date says September 2024... I'm wondering if I can claim it for May as well? ETA, yes that is the email to accept.
  9. I was committee 2 and got it with a 9.77!
  10. My university sent me information for biweekly payments administered through them. It may depend on the institution?
  11. Does anyone know whether we hear separately from the Aileen D. Ross or Queen's fellowship? I received a fellowship but don't see any mention of the two supplements - I assume I didn't get them as they're not in my funding letter.
  12. I also got funded! Letter C, Committee 2
