  1. Based on a syllabus I had last year, I believe it is 80-84.99%.
  2. The University of Alberta uses a 4.0 scale, so a 3.3/4.0, meaning a B+ average or higher. And your GPA calculation will be based off your most recent 60 credits.
  3. I don't think that they would accept a late letter (as far as I am aware). Whether they throw out the application or just process it despite a missing reference I'm not sure. But that is definitely what I am worried about right now! Sorry to hear you're going through this as well. It is definitely stressful.
  4. I appreciate it, I'm glad it did work out for you! Hopefully it just works out for me too because I also don't have any back-up plans, I don't even have a phone number for this person, and considering it's Saturday I don't think they'd respond to their office phone anyhow. I am still good friends with an SLP who once was my field placement supervisor, so she did technically grade me, but I don't think that's nearly close enough to count as an academic reference. Just crossing my fingers now that my current reference does respond.
  5. Thanks, I appreciate your response. It is for U of A. I also really hope she is just a bit behind on things but does submit it today. Did your reference eventually submit?
  6. I am still waiting on one of my academic references to submit their letter and write their appraisal and the deadline is tonight at 11:59pm. I am feeling worried that they won't submit on time. I emailed my reference two weeks ago to let them know the link was sent out, and again on Monday to confirm they received the link and remind them of the deadline. They responded that they'd received everything and would submit it within the week. This morning I also sent a friendly reminder that today is the due date. I'm not sure what else I should do. Do I just wait for the end of the day and hope it gets submitted? Should I contact the department and ask about next steps if it does not get submitted? I took all of my schooling over the past 5 years online, so it was difficult enough to get academic references considering I haven't met any of my instructors in-person, so I really don't have anyone else I could ask as a last minute favour. Has anyone else had to deal with this situation? What would you do? Advice would be much appreciated. Good luck to everyone as you wait for decisions/finish up your applications!
  7. Wondering about resume formats... what format are you using for the resume you're applying with? (happy to hear answers from anyone regardless of which school(s) you're applying to ) I was planning to do a chronological format because that's how my resume already was, and most of my recent experience is relevant. But I got my casper score back today and unfortunately it didn't go well... which made me think I should do a functional resume or a combined resume so I can try to highlight a variety of skills including interpersonal and communication skills, so that the casper test isn't the only information that they have to try to judge those sorts of things on. I'm sure my work reference will also help with that, but I'm worried this score is going to weigh heavy on my application. I have over 6 years of experience as an SLP Assistant and I believe the knowledge and skills I've gained from that experience would be beneficial for my success in the program, but I am still trying to figure out how to best highlight that on my resume and in my functional statement. If anyone feels like sharing what format of resume they are choosing and why I would appreciate it!
  8. If you are willing to pay an application fee on top of course fees to become an open studies student at the University of Alberta, I believe their LING 205 course would work for most phonetics requirements (including U of T, as far as I remember). They have info about their online offerings here: https://www.ualberta.ca/en/linguistics/onlinecourse.html Unfortunately I don’t know of any open universities that have a similar course, but I also haven’t looked into it much so that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. I hope you are able to find what you’re looking for!
  9. Okay, that’s great to hear, thank you! Did you get your digital copies sent through MyCreds and then download them as a PDF? It seems impossible to directly receive your transcript electronically anymore. It’s all through MyCreds, but then if the program you’re applying to doesn’t use MyCreds then you’re just downloading a PDF of your transcript anyway? Which is exactly what you would be doing if it wasn’t on MyCreds? I just feel like I’m missing something. But either way with the Canada Post strike I don’t know if I can afford to wait for the transcripts I’ve ordered because who knows if they will ever come. So I’m glad to hear digital is fine!
  10. Hi all! This will be my first time applying for SLP, it's something I've been planning to do for a long time so I'm excited (and nervous) to finally be doing it! I am wondering about something on the University of Alberta's website - it says to upload a scanned copy of your transcript. I interpret that as meaning only a scanned version of the physical document is acceptable. But on the one transcript I have tried to scan, when scanned it shows dark letters across saying "void if copied" which makes it hard to read and obviously says that it is void. Do I upload it anyways? Would a digital version be acceptable as long as it is an official transcript with a marking legend? At the OASIS conference the administrator was saying that they do not have time to reach out to students to let them know if something on their application is incorrect, so they just reject the application. So I really don't want to do the wrong thing and be rejected just for uploading my transcripts incorrectly. If anyone knows about this please let me know!
