bump I am also confused about which would be a better university: Boston University or University of Florida/Purdue (Stats departments) for me in terms of the growth of the Stats department. A professor from UColumbia said that Boston would be better in terms of the department, and the place attracts better students. Is that true given it has a much lower ranking (~40)? I like the department quite a lot, but some of my profs look at Boston Uni lowly, and one even said that it is a place for theives.
