  1. Did UCLA extend it's deadline? It says December 1st on the Sociology dept website, but now says December 8th on the UCLA graduate program website. Also, does anyone know if UCLA or Berkeley have historically done interviews?
  2. Submitted my application to Berkeley but on the application checklist, it doesn't list my resume or writing sample, does anyone see the same thing? Want to make sure those were received.
  3. I'm just having a hard time making it different from my SOP, because I already laid out my research interests pretty extensively in the SOP... are you making it exactly 750-words, or a little less?
  4. Anyone applying to UChicago? They make you do a 750-word research proposal in addition to your SOP... really annoying, as my SOP is basically already a research proposal.
  5. Also, is it worth submitting to optional schools like Berkeley, even with the low quant score?
  6. So I recently took the GRE and got a 166V, 156Q, 5.5AW. I'm decently happy with my verbal score but worry about my quant score. I'm not pitching myself as a quant researcher (comparative/historical instead), and I've taken grad-level quant courses and have done research assistant work for profs doing quant research. Still, I'm worried about the low quant score, it's like 46th percentile or something. Is it worth retaking, or should I just use that time to focus on other parts of my application instead? What schools traditionally weigh GRE/quant scores higher?
  7. Hey all, anyone else here working on their statement of purpose? Anyone have any good resources to share? I'm struggling a bit on the formatting — I wrote a statement of purpose for my master's program but it was way more about my personal intellectual trajectory than this (which I guess is more specifically about your research question). Anyone else also struggling?
