it looks like no rejections have been sent yet for NC State and from the draft it looks like at least ~10 other people got this email just looking at posts and comments....one girl said she replied on the email to ask if it really was a second waitlist or if it was sent to everyone but it looks like she hasn't heard back yet...im starting to think they really just sent this to everyone which SUCKS because it really got my hopes up lol
I am wondering the same thing. trying to get back into the MFA draft FB group to check if anyone else got this email, or if anyone has been rejected yet
I got this email too. At first I was like, oh, cool, I might end up on the waitlist!! But now I'm realizing they probably just sent that to everyone, and I'm assuming no rejections have been sent yet at all. I would check the draft but I left the fb group because I figured I'd been rejected everywhere lol....
found a handful of typos/formatting errors in my portfolio - am I absolutely cooked?
for color, I'm not an english/CW undergrad major and am 3 years out of school and I didn't really have anyone to help review/spot typos womp womp womp
Just finished my last application! Any guess on when we'll start to hear back? I've seen some schools give an April deadline, but wondering if we might get answers sooner...
Fwiw I applied to:
Iowa
Brown
OSU
NC State
UNCG
+ thanks to everyone on this forum for guiding me thru the app process
How long do you guys think the impact statement should be? Also, are you focusing more on your background and experiences or your goals with the program ?
Mine is about 1k words, ~700 on my background and how I came into writing, ~300 on my writing style and goals/fit for the program. I don't know anyone else applying for MFA and have just been using random blog posts on the app process for guidance
ADVICE NEEDED
First time applying for an MFA and I was not an English/CW major in my undergrad so I'm not sure where I stand...I'm mainly applying to 2y fully funded programs that lean studio.
I have on my list so far:
NC State
UNCG
Brown (is it even worth trying???)
Iowa
and debating between the following (my target is 5 schools):
- Notre Dame
- John Hopkins
anyone have any thoughts about these choices? or insight to the level of competitiveness? I was hoping to have 1 or 2 schools with a slightly higher acceptance rate but it seems like all the 2y fully funded programs are equally impossible to get into
