IIRC international applicants are also notified by a phone call. Although I'm not certain how it works and if they reach out by email beforehand to set up a time to call. Could be wrong though.

Jumping in to ask: Has anyone heard anything from Stanford Sociology? I also got a request for a 20 minute zoom call from another university -- not sure how to prep for it, but if anyone has any experience with a call like this I'd be super grateful to know what kinds of questions were asked! -
