Yeah I remember them specifying that they don't give stipends or anything which is why I've been teetering on them regardless of being waitlisted

Just got an email notification from Rutgers that I'm on the waitlist!

Anybody accepted to/decided on Cranbrook Painting?

I definitely get the unorganized vibe since I had to wait a little while after my alotted time for them to finish the last interview. Someone from last year said the same thing. Crazy that they emphasize in person interviews without the proper structure. I haven't heard anything either but someone here got a rejection.

I haven't gotten the chance to visit but I was gonna try to make the drop in tour this month. That's something I was wondering about

I believe I'm waitlisted at Rutgers, so if I am accepted it is between that and Cranbrook Painting. Anybody out there know how these 2 compare based on reputation and student experience? Moreso Rutgers since I'm pretty familiar with Cranbrook. Rutgers has faculty I'm interested in and I like that it's connected to a larger university. These would both be free but I would have to move for Rutgers and I already live in Michigan

has anybody else been rejected or not heard back from Rutgers? I would assume schools send rejections out at the same time but maybe not
-
Can I ask how you found out? I haven't heard anything at all and don't see an update in the portal

They said there would be an envelope sent out after march 1 but also that it would be on the student portal. So I'm not sure if it's accurate or what because my portal showed loans as soon as I was able to log in weeks ago.

I'm 24. I definitely think it's better to at least have a little life experience before going back for the MFA. One of my art acquaintances just recently got his MFA in his mid 40s. As long as life lines up I don't think you can be too old!

I was a little confused about the wording of the email because it says your funding information will be in self service and mail but another page only mentioned mail. So maybe it hasn't been properly updated? Wishful thinking I guess

I got into Cranbrook full tuition and SAIC still waiting on financial aid. Yale was my top choice but I did not make it past the first round. Rutgers was my second choice but I don't think I got in there either. As a Detroiter everybody knows about Cranbrook and there's some artists making good work that have taken off after attending but I've also heard a lot of not great things about it and it also feels like the easy choice for me. I'm wondering what people outside of Michigan know or think about Cranbrook and it's standing and whether it'd be worth it to wait and reapply to my higher choices

Imo it's not worth it since like you said there is no guaranteed pipeline to success or money afterwards. Of course you can increase your chances through better access to connections and an active art scene but I think it also depends on your work. Do you feel like you're already on that path? In that case maybe some debt wouldn't be that bad. I would avoid it altogether. But if you just want the professional development and don't care about the rest I feel like you can always find a good fully funded program.

I saw somebody say that SAIC will put out scholarship letters in March, is this separate from what's on your aid summary or should i assume I just didn't get a scholarship?
