Ah I'm sorry! I was also just rejected but no interview..

I’m in a similar position! I’m a Fulbright semi-finalist and have a MFA offer. Struggling with the same question lol

So far 2/3 of the places I interviewed, I networked with one faculty member. I think it can help a little because it humanizes your application/shows your interest, but I don't think it's the sole reason.

I also applied for photography. In late January, they sent me an interview request. I interviewed with them on 2/1 and was waitlisted on 2/11. My guess is they already interviewed everyone, but you never know!

Did anyone else apply to UCSC?

I've had two so far - the first, they only asked two questions, and then it was conversational. During the second, they asked me a bunch of questions and then asked me what questions I had for them. Some questions I remember being asked are... Why this school? What are you watching, or reading that is influencing your work? What is your work about & who is influencing your work? What recent exhibition have you been to? Tell us about it and the impact it had What exhibition have you recently been a part of? Is there anything else we should know about you?

I’ve had two interviews (University of Arizona and UT Austin) and I’m also wondering what I could’ve done better. I found it hard to read the groupings of individuals during the interview

I second being honest! That may be the reason they give the one full scholarship to you!
