  1. No problem! Good things will happen eventually for all of us!
  2. For Rutgers, I think they have sent all offers and waitlists. I was put on the waiting list. And yesterday, somebody shared that Georgetown has already asked their admit students to rsvp for the open day, and waiting list decisions seem to be out already. Maybe Johns Hopkins has not made all the decisions yet.
  3. Thanks! I am still waiting for other schools and have not decided it yet. But I will attend if this is my only offer.
  4. Claiming American University Acceptance, CP subfield
  5. I get what you mean. I partially agree. I mean, if they want to make the class size smaller, and we still make some waitlist, that should mean the weight of these waitlists are heavier than the years before. They used to over admit a lot, but if they do not over admit so much this year, it should theoretically mean that waitlists have better chances now. But maybe fewer people would turn down their offers, and it's always different with different programs. Let's hope for the best!
  6. This sucks, which might actually make me feel better for missing this opportunity.
  7. Wanna share some bad news first, but also wanna complain about how much schools are cutting their class size. Got confirmation today that GWU could only admit 5 PhD students for Fall 2025. They only admitted 4 PhD students for Fall 2024, so it's nine new students combined for two years. This is kind of insane, given that a lot less wealthy universities are still not cutting their size to this level.
  8. Go ahead please! I don't think many people would say no to more useful platforms and more information!
  9. Congrats! Through portal update?
  10. Totally agree. Maybe the best students looking at this conversation will laugh at us, but I really find it absurd. I tried my best to sharpen my research topic and method in the past few years, but I still expect most of it to be finished after a few years of coursework for my PhD. It almost feels like we are obliged to self-study PhD level stuff and triumph in order to get into the competitive programs. Also, research interest is subject to change. Rejecting people for unclear research topics, to me, is self-conflicting on the part of the provider of the education.
  11. They had an unusually small size last year due to over acceptance the year before, so hopefully they would admit more this year. I heard they are asking for university administration for final approval on the number of students allowed.
  12. When you first posted it, mine was still there, but they disappeared just now. Maybe you are right
  13. Yes based on previous cycles, no inside-track information here, and would really appreciate it if someone is familiar with the situations of wl being released before acceptances and could explain a bit
  14. Me too, let's see if more are coming. They tend to release all acceptances in a few waves, not one by one, I think, but I could be wrong
  15. Same feeling here, so confused. Maybe they wanna see how many would decline the waitlist offer first? which doesn't make much sense to me either...Guess we could only wait to see
  16. Apparently there's a second Duke waitlist being posted via portal update (on the result page), so it's official
  17. Nah, if I did, I wouldn't be doing this again this year😅We'll all get there eventually!
  18. I have the same thought. Last year I was notified being on the waitlist of Duke exactly this way.
  19. Wanna ask the same. Weird that waitlist comes out before even acceptance.
  20. Thank you for the update. @polisci119 Did you check it with the admission office of GWU?
  21. Contacted the professor I wanna work with at Rutgers, being told "we are indeed impressed by your application, but there are other factors to consider in the admission decisions," and I should expect the result to be released later this week or early next week. Wondering if this is a genuine wait-and-see situation or a soft rejection. If folks claiming Rutgers acceptance could post the results online, it would be helpful for me; so far I've seen one acceptance on the result page. Thanks!
  22. This sounds very bad, especially since Columbia is my top choice. Thanks for the info! And please accept my jealousy if your union is successful in demanding 72k, man that is quite a number compared with some other programs.
  23. I heard that Columbia University will shrink the PhD admission cohort (including PSC) this year by up to 65%. Some believe it is related to Trump's suspension of research grants, and some believe it has no relation with Trump and is purely Columbia's policy. Does anyone know if this is true, or if it is true, is it related to Trump, or are there any other ongoing Political Science PhD admissions that are being affected by Trump? Thanks!
