Also an international candidate and feeling the same! I got into UCLA, Columbia and RISD, and was leaning towards Columbia because of the opportunities New York could offer, but feeling a little anxious about the state of Columbia affecting my experience, wondering if I should consider UCLA more now. Lots of hard decisions to make
But for yourself, I think Yale could still be a great option! There will always be negative/positive stories from each program, but it mostly comes down to what you can take from each one or what you value the most.
Has anyone who reached out to Columbia's financial aid heard back yet? I contacted them a little over a week ago to ask if more funding was possible, and no response yet. I am wondering if I should message the department head directly instead
The top says submitted, but when I scroll to the bottom, mine says, "Decision Status: Available beginning 3/4/2025 Your application decision is now available online."
Mine felt short, like 15 minutes. They ask about your background, inspirations, why Columbia, and to speak about the process of one work. Also, a few specific questions about your practice. This was for painting, though, so sculpture might be a little different. Good luck!
I'm curious how others have responded to receiving informal offers while waiting on other schools. Is it best not to mention that you're waiting to hear back from other programs, or should you mention this after the official invitation if they need a quick answer?
Hey everyone, this is my first time applying!
So far, I got an interview with RISD in painting, but still waiting on:
Yale
Columbia
Hunter
UCLA
Concordia (my backup Canadian school lol)
Wishing everyone good luck!!
