  1. “university of oregon state” on the spreadsheet… which one do they meaaaannnnn
  2. thank you all re: alabama for the reassurance! i don’t mean to sound entitled or ungrateful at all – i am just having a thing where my brain wants me to undercut my successes and feed my insecurities, y’know?
  3. word, okay, yeah. i’m sorry. that’s a really good quote to describe what i’m feeling. as a second round applicant obviously used to rejection, i do feel a little suspect of any school that says yes. i think there’s a word for this, oh right – imposter syndrome. thank you for the reassurance
  4. only two alabama rejections on the spreadsheet has me a little worried they’re not as selective as i’d hoped…. i know selectivity isn’t everything but i do think it can give some insight
  5. i feel like it was somewhere between july and september!
  6. i don't think so! they admit 10 per year, according to their website, and most of those (and many waitlists) were reported last year. Earliest acceptances were early january, but some were in late feb. they have such spread out data that I don't know what to make of it. maybe they decided to not do that this year and follow a more typical schedule. but yeah, i find it hard to believe that they've already done it if there are no reports this year, given how many there were last year
  7. what is going on with university of oregon? they are so wildly behind where they were last year – i wonder if they got way more apps than usual? i'd be curious to know if blue-state schools are more competitive this year and red-state schools are less competitive, because, well, you know.
  8. tomorrow is 2/20… on 2/20/24 last year, the first iowa and michigan results went out and i remember it being the first day it really dawned on me that i was going to be reapplying. this year im going into the february 20-somethings knowing i have a little bit better odds at my moonshot schools and that i have options if it doesn’t work out. it gets better, you guys, and second rounds are so much easier than first rounds
  9. really good day for me yesterday. round 2 at ole miss and waitlist at oregon state. i feel i have reason to hope for something else from my 8 pending schools – such a crazy different reality than last feb when i was getting all rejections 2A/1W/3 interviews or round 2/6R/8P
  10. there is still hope, and again, doing a second round of apps isn't bad and is actually beneficial for you as a writer
  11. i wonder how many people they choose to progress?
  12. i’ve moved on to round 2 at ole miss!
  13. i did ask, but he never responded to that email. paranoid that it was a wildly inappropriate question lol but if you haven’t gotten a rejection then it’s safe to say they haven’t gone out. just spooked me that there’s no rejections logged as sometimes that can be a red flag for a program, ya know? thank you and best of luck with the rest of the season!
  14. does anyone know if alabama rejections have gone out? i got in there and im kinda curious how selective it was
  15. yeah i think president’s day should be cancelled this year for two distinct, unrelated reasons….
  16. yeah true, i guess i wasn’t thinking about revisions
  17. most of the same schools and lots more new ones of course i changed my sample? would have been idiotic to use the same one… especially at the same schools. i took a long hard look at the old sample and realized the reasons it wasn’t great. you gotta grow to have any chance of a different result
  18. you guys. as a successful second round applicant. it’s okay! i have been in the 0a despair pit before-and i spent a year+ being mad about it every day. but it really truly isn’t the end of the world. you apply again. now i wish i spent the energy i wasted wallowing… writing… reading… thinking about my previous work and identifying weaknesses and making new work aimed towards those weaknesses. it really did not end up being that bad. your time will come next year or the year after with patience and persistence. self pity isn’t effective i’ve learned. sorry to sound like your bad high school football coach but it’s true
  19. yeah last year they released 2/11-2/12
  20. i feel like it’s possible that they’ll just ignore their own deadline and tell us next week
  21. i’m pretty sure i heard they only interview for screenwriting and or playwriting
  22. did you apply to more than two?
  23. I’m feeling the despair too, even though I’ve gotten a couple acceptances. Feeling really nervous about the biggies coming out soon, knowing I’ll never get the chance to apply to them again.
